A former Registrar and Chief Executive of West Africa Examination Council Dr. Sylvia Boye, says she is almost certain that  WAEC officials are not the ones behind the leakage of  the Council’s exam questions.

[contextly_sidebar id=”LpccVfhAnbFH1JssLRblbgd1uAE3Hv0d”]She explained that “questions it is very difficult to prove that the papers are leaking from WAEC” due to the kind of training given to officials.

There have been media reports of a syndicate leaking examination papers to individuals and schools at a fee.

The syndicate is said to be made up of some teachers and a WAEC official.

But speaking to Citi News at the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the Legacy Girls College in Akuse, Dr. Sylvia Boye says the leaking of the papers is likely to happen in the schools or at the examination centers when the papers are opened earlier than expected.

On the malpractices students indulge in she said most of such students were either poorly prepared or lacked integrity.

Dr. Sylvia Boye therefore called on parents, guardians and teachers to instill in students the virtues of integrity and honesty.

Dr. Boye who retired from WAEC after 37 years of service to the council and also as the Chief Executive said “I trust the people that we trained and left behind.”
