The Accra Regional Police Command has begun withdrawing its men from the Agbogbloshie market days after ethnic tension heightened in the area.

[contextly_sidebar id=”ayYsDxgqZDXKetjjJ9nidUl320JEEkXf”]The clashes which occurred between two ethnic groups last Tuesday led to the injury of three persons including a Police officer.

The clashes were triggered by open defecation by a four-year-old in the area.

Two ethnic groups,  the Dagombas and Zamrama  fought over the refusal of the mother to clear the fecal matter.

The violence left  two people injured.

Hundreds of police officers were stationed there to restore order.

Accra Regional Police Commander DCOP Christian Tetteh-Yohuno told Citi News that opinion leaders in the area have reached an amicable settlement with all aggrieved parties.

“Calm having been restored, we will leave them to interact, and work together because they have assured us that now they are one people. Even now they are all going to pray in the same mosque. So for that matter we feel we have done our best so we must withdraw. Beyond today we will roll up some events whereby we will identify the various opinion leaders that are there and will start an educational campaign to maintain the peace,” he stated.
