The Zimbabwean Ambassador in Ghana, Pavelyn Tendai Musaka, has described as criminal, the xenophobic violence in South Africa.
[contextly_sidebar id=”KCVdGGJazomwzYielzUjInZZOpxk1Fbb”]She said the unwarranted attacks on innocent immigrants by some South Africans was detrimental to sustaining peace on the continent, and called for an end to the violence.
“Knowing how much each African country contributed to liberating South Africa, I do not think these attacks are justified”, Ambassador Musaka noted.
She was speaking at a press conference in Kumasi, to brief the media on the 56th Zimbabwe International Trade Fair scheduled for Bulawayo in the latter part of this month.
Ambassador Musaka, who is also Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, used the platform to inaugurate the Ghana-Zimbabwe Business Forum, a partnership programme seeking to promote bi-lateral trade relations between the two countries.
The Trade Fair forms part of activities marking Zimbabwe’s 35th Independence Anniversary Celebrations, and designed to open up the country’s economy to other countries to attract investment.
Ms. Musaka disclosed that her country had put in place a five-year economic development plan, targeting infrastructural development, food security and nutrition, as well as investment opportunities.
She affirmed her country’s determination to advance intra-Africa trade relations to create jobs for the people.
The Ambassador appealed to Ghanaian businesses to participate in the Trade Fair in order to showcase their products.
