Government has opened investigations into reports that Christian migrants from Ghana were thrown into the Mediterranean by a group of Muslims travelling with them.

This follows a BBC report on Thursday that 12 Ghanaian and Nigerian migrants had died in religious clash on the Mediterranean and were thrown overboard in a boat heading to Italy.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hannah Tetteh, responding to a tweet to Citi News’ Benjamin Epton Owusu revealed that, the Ghanaian mission had started investigating and ascertaining the facts of the matter.

She added that, this investigation is to enable her ministry know if there were indeed Ghanaians on board before an action could be taken.

She however assured that findings from the investigations was going to be made public as soon as they have credible information in a couple of days.
