Barring any last minute interference, state prosecutors in the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) scandal will close their case on Thursday.

[contextly_sidebar id=”sgyabn9zRis4BZJDbZp8fdJbou2eL0IX”]GYEEDA boss, Abuga Pele and Chief Executive Officer of Goodwill International Group, Philip Assibit who have been implicated in the GYEEDA scandal are facing trial for intentionally causing financial loss to the state.

Lawyers for the accused on Tuesday cross-examined investigators in the case.

The process is expected to continue on Wednesday.

The two have been accused of willfully causing financial loss to the state to the tune of GH¢3,330,568.

They have both pleaded not guilty and are currently on bail.

Gov’t must prosecute Kofi Humado

In a related development, a Member of Parliament’s Finance Committee Dr. Mark Assibey-Yeboah and the National Advocates Against Corruption and Injustice (NACCAI) are asking government to prosecute Clement Kofi Humado,  former Sports Minister, for his alleged involvement in the financial mismanagement that took place in the GYEEDA.

They insist that Kofi Humado was complicit in the case because he signed “an amount of Ghc240,000,000 to Better Ghana Management Service” as captured in the 2013 Auditor General’s report which they say was not value for money, hence their call.
