President John Dramani Mahama has given the assurance that work on the Eastern Corridor road project will be completed as soon as possible.

This, he believes will facilitate trade between the northern and southern regions of Ghana.
The President, who made the remarks when he paid a working visit to the Northern Region, also indicated that work on some sections of the corridor will be completed next year.
“We all know that the north eastern part of this country is a bread basket of Ghana. A lot of the farm produce that we eat in this country is produced in the eastern corridor of this nation stretching all the way from Bunkpurugu Yonyoo all the way down to the Volta Region,” he noted.
President Mahama added that “with the construction of the eastern corridor road it’s going to make it easier for us to move yams and other agricultural products down to the markets in the south. And so we are determined to complete the eastern road corridor.”
The Eastern corridor road, which will connect the southern part of the country to the northern part, covers a distance of about 695 kilometers.
