Somalia al-Shabab bases have been bombed by Kenyan fighter jets.
[contextly_sidebar id=”EZHYCNxgTdMQMXDaMZWS56yTGA3Zn5gw”]Two al-Shabab camps in the Gedo region which are used by al-Shabab militants to cross into Kenya were the targets.
This follows the gruesome attack which left 148 people dead at Garissa University last Thursday.
Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed to do everything possible to crush militant group.
Kenyan army spokesman David Obonyo is reported to have confirmed the air on Sunday night, adding: “The bombings are part of the continued process and engagement against al-Shabab, which will go on.”
The al-Qaeda affiliate says it is at war with Kenya, and wants it to withdraw troops sent to Somalia in 2011 to help the weak government in Mogadishu fight the militants.
Meanwhile, the Kenyan government has placed a 20 million Kenyan shillings ($215,000) bounty on the ring leader of the group, Mohamed Mohamud who is suspected to have masterminded the attack.
A massive manhunt is underway in Kenya to arrest and bring him to book.
