The Volta Regional Police Command has launched a manhunt for the remaining four suspected criminals who escaped from the Denu police cell last month.
The four escapees are among a gang of seven who made away with two AK 47 rifles and other ammunition when they escaped.
Last Wednesday, the Volta Regional Police Command succeeded in re-arresting three of the suspects at Agbozume in the Ketu South district, upon a tip off.
However the Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Peter King Gyinae told Citi News, the police will not rest until the other four are re-arrested.
How prisoners escaped
In March, seven suspects escaped from a Police cell in Denu .
They are said to have stolen two of the riffles belonging to the Police personnel at the station.
Reports indicate that the seven hardened criminals managed to escape from custody because the policemen on duty at the time were drunk and had subsequently fallen asleep.
Two policemen were asleep under a mosquito net near the police station when the criminals bolted.
The Policemen subsequently mounted an intensive search for the suspects in the neighbourhood after a security man woke them up and informed them about what had happened but the suspects were no where to be found.
