The collation of results at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday morning turned dramatic when a former Minister of State of the governing People’s Development Party  (PDP) accused the INEC Chairman of colluding with the opposition to rig the elections.

The Minister, Godsday Orubebe accused Attahiru Jega of being partial.

“You are tribalistic! We will not allow it! You are partial! We will not take it. Until something is done to our problems the way you did to APC, we will not continue with you.”

He then refused to leave the podium at the Collation Centre until Jega  investigated results from Kano.

The situation was resolved after the Commission denied his accusations.

Nigeria took to social media to react to the incident.

PDP are having a moment. What they need at this time is love and not condemnation

Lol! Jega wasn’t tribalistic in 2011 when GEJ won though.. — Miss Atim (@Mishdoo) March 31, 2015

#Jega: “Sir you are a former Minister, you are a statesman in your own right, you should be wary of your conduct” #NigeriaDecides — Imad Mesdoua (@ImadMesdoua) March 31, 2015

Attahiru Jega is the calmest person in Nigeria. No hyperbole. #Nigeriadecides — AYO SOGUNRO (@ayosogunro) March 31, 2015

Okay, now this is getting out of hand. Godsday Orubebe has committed treason on global television. HE MUST GO TO PRISON. — Chxta of Greece (@Chxta) March 31, 2015

Jega seems like the kind of guy to open his door for Armed Robbers! Sit them down! Talk to them Calmly and tell them to go and sin no more.. — TuNdE (@TuNaLdO) March 31, 2015

What not who. Lol. RT @amasonic: A Jega in his 30s stood up to a military dictator called IBB. Please, who is an Orubebe? — Oladipo Fasoro (@dfasoro) March 31, 2015

lol. this is so hilarious. lose with grace. stand on the legacy of free and fair elections. return strong in 2019. or be… PDP i guess — Naz Onuzo (@IamSnazz) March 31, 2015

if Jega can manage this entire election process from start to finish with calm and credibility, he should be considered for the Nobel prize
