The Accra Regional Police Command has warned of a car-stealing syndicate purposely targeted at commercial drivers, by incapacitating them with drinks laced with sedatives.
The police, in a statement said the perpetrators normally struck halfway through a journey on the pretense of courtesy.
“The Police has observed that victims of this trend hired by a member of the syndicate at good offers, and sedated halfway through the journey after being offered water or an energy drink. The targeted driver is then hauled from the car and the vehicle driven away.”
The police has therefore advised commercial drivers to be “extra vigilant”, and avoid accepting consumables from strangers and passengers.”
