The People’s National Convention (PNC) has filed a suit against the Electoral Commission (EC), praying the court to clear its  Flagbearer to contest in the December 7 polls.

The PNC flagbearer, Edward Mahama was disqualified on the grounds that some of the subscribers who endorsed his nomination forms from the regions, forged signatures while others endorsed more than one candidate.

Speaking to Citi News, the party’s National Chairman Bernard Mornah, said the PNC has successfully filed the suit, adding that the court will hear the case on Tuesday.

“What the presidential candidate has said, is that this is not a matter that should lead us to war but it is a matter that we will fight with all the energies at our commands; spiritually, politically, legally, religiously and what have you.”

A few weeks ago, the Electoral Commission disqualified Dr. Edward Mahama and 12 other presidential aspirants from contesting in the December elections after failing to meet the necessary requirements.

In Dr. Mahama’s case, the EC explained that two subscribers to his nominations, also subscribed for another presidential candidate, which is against the rules.

Some persons in the party, have since blamed party executives for failing to ensure that the party met the necessary requirements.
