The security threat in the sub-region has compelled some hotels and other tourist facilities in Accra to increase security on their premises.
It is no secret that terrorists or their likes have a penchant to attack hotels and places largely patronized by foreign nationals.
The latest casualty figures from the Splendid Hotel in Burkina Faso shows that more than ten foreigners were reported dead in the recent terror attacks that killed 28 people.
To assess the level of security at some of the country’s luxurious hotels in Ghana, Citi News visited two of such facilities, the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel and the Kempinski Hotel.
An armored vehicle and four armed police officers were seen at the entrance of the hotel, a sign that they are ready to deal with any threat to civilians and visitors of the hotel.
Already, Ghana’s national security apparatus has put in place some measures at most public places to tackle or ward off possible terrorist attacks.
