The Vice Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia has described the ongoing Presidential reshuffle as nothing but at attempt to win the election.
Some Ministers were handed new portfolios on Tuesday in President John Dramani Mahama’s first reshuffle of 2016 including Fiifi Kwetey and Prosper Bani who were nominated to the Transport and Interior Ministries respectively.

In a Facebook post Mahamudu Bawumia stated that the changes made by the President are not geared towards improving the lives of Ghanaians but rather gaining an advantage in the race for victory in November’s polls.
“The ongoing reshuffle appears to be one to do with winning an election rather than one aimed at addressing the challenges faced by Ghanaians,” the post said.
According to him, ministerial reshuffles though not unusual in governments, are not what Ghanaians need at the moment.
He explained that, considering the current economic situation, the citizenry would prefer a reshuffle of their hardships, “unprecedented joblessness and the astronomic increases in taxes, utility prices and fuel” they face.
However Dr. Bawumia added that the changes would prove to be meaningless as the current NDC government would be voted out of power in November.
