Spokesperson for suspended National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Yaw Osei, has told Citi News he is not aware of any party decision to suspend him.
The National Disciplinary Committee of the NPP has announced the suspension of Nana Yaw Osei from the party following allegations that he was one of the organizers of the demonstration staged in Accra to demand the reinstatement of his boss, Paul Afoko.
Mr. Osei has on several occasions maintained that Mr. Afoko is still the National Chairman of the NPP because the party acted illegally.
[contextly_sidebar id=”LsJkwxDZUzucaJTHNrFxRbp9gq523GTy”]He however says the decision to suspend him has not been communicated to him, adding that also constitutes a breach of the party’s procedures.
He told Citi News he is unperturbed about the decision, daring the party to expel him if they so wish.
“I never met anybody in connection with the demonstration that happened in Accra let alone for me to organize it and give people money. I challenge those making those allegations to prove it; so when they don’t have a basis they can cook a basis.”
“What is even shocking is the fact that in this our party, if somebody wants to even make a complaint against you, he or she must do so in writing and present it. There is no such communication and nobody has written anything to me. And it’s been one constitutional breach or the other and so I shouldn’t be surprised. I am even thinking that they can do their worst; they should just expel me from the party since they are just not following procedures and doing what pleases them. Expelling me should be more important to them than to just inform the general public when I have not been informed in any way as the affected person.”
The NPP has suspended several others in various constituencies for allegedly participating in that protest at the party’s headquarters which according to them, was against party regulations.
