The Greater Accra Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anthony Nukpenu, has denied claims that Sam George’s name has been deleted from the voters’ register.
Speaking to Citi News, Mr Nukpenu said Sam George’s name was in the exhibition register as of this morning but was quick to add that he not seen the final register.
“I took pains to go through Sam George’s voting center … I took the register and his name was in as at exhibition but I have not seen the final register …”
[contextly_sidebar id=”frivAEUNlCT02TjqWyI1rbvzzyx2SOXj”]Mr. Sam George earlier alleged that his name and that of other 3,000 delegates of the NDC had been deleted from the voters’ register.
He claimed residents in the area are therefore calling for a suspension of polls as a result of this development
But responding to these allegations, Mr. Nukpenu said he is in contact with the National Director of Elections, the General Secretary and the National Organizer, to check the processes and rectify all anomalies.
“Within the process, wherever we find any anomaly which is really unreasonable, we will resolve them”.
While calling for calm, Nukpenu also admitted that there will be challenges with the process.
He however stressed that the election process must continue despite those challenges. Meanwhile the election in Nimgo Prampram has been called off by the Electoral Commission following the tension that is building up.
Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, Nii Ade Coker, who confirmed this to Citi News, says E.T. Mensah and Sam George would be given full access to the register today for the election be held tomorrow.
