A Counsellor and Psychologist, Dr. Emmanuel Hopeson has emphasized the need for the gunman who claims he went to the President last Sunday to kill him to undergo a mental health assessment.
Dr. Hopeson said his call is premised on comments made by the convict, Charles Antwi in court on Tuesday.

Charles told the Court on Tuesday the court, presided over by Justice Francis Obiri, that he “wanted to kill the President Mahama to take over his position.”
He further stated that he “had to be sworn in as president when president John Evans Atta Mills died.”
He was charged with unlawful possession of illegal arms and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.
Screening
Speaking on Eyewitness News, Dr. Hopeson said though Charles’ comments give indications that he is insane, “he will have to go through mental screening and analysis to confirm what kind of issues he might be dealing with.”
Asked whether the judge was fair with the sentencing, Dr. Hopeson said : “No two situations or circumstances are the same, and people that are masters of the subject matter can use their jusridiction to do whatever they think is right.”
“What we need to understand in this situation, whether the person is having difficulties or having problems or not, if he had been able to execute whatever reasons he had been at the place for, that would have been a big blow in the first place…” he added.
