The Managing Director for Pharmanorva Industries Limited has called for the need for Ghanaians to buy locally manufactured medicines.
Dr. Dhananjay Tripathi explains that local Pharmaceutical companies produce quality medicines that meet world standards.
He also added that Ghanaians must do this to help the local pharmaceutical companies to grow the economy of Ghana.
There have been calls on Ghanaians to use locally manufactured medicines to boost local pharmaceutical production but these calls over the years according to the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana have yielded little or no positive results.
Speaking at the launch of the 10th Anniversary of Pharmanorva Industries Limited and a new malaria drug, Novamether, in Accra over the weekend, Dr. Dhananjay Tripathi stated that patronising locally manufactured medicines will strengthen Ghana’s economy.
He stated that, “the only country that has sustained their economy did so because they started using their products made in their country. If you go to Japan and other Asians countries they do not accepts products from elsewhere to be dumped on their market. They consume what they produce and this has made their economy strong.”
Dr. Dhananjay Tripathi opined that, “If we bring this concept to Ghana it will boost the Ghanaian economy” and “will also reduce the burden on the Cedi.”
