Campaign posters spotted by citifmonline.com in parts of Accra suggest that editor of the Daily Searchlight newspaper, Ken Kuranchie has joined the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary race.
He is vying to be the parliamentary candidate in the Okaikoi North constituency in Accra.
It is unclear whether the incumbent NPP MP for the area, Elizabeth Sackey will be contesting in the party’s parliamentary primaries which has been scheduled for June 13, 2015.
Ken Kuranchie is not the first known media person contesting to be an MP.
Former Host of Joy FM’s morning show, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah is vying for the Ofoase Ayeribi parliamentary slot on the ticket of the NPP while radio presenter at Accra based Okay Fm, Abeiku Santana is contesting for the Mfantseman constituency seat on the ticket of the NDC.
In a related development, lawyer for Nana Addo in the 2012 election petition, Philip Addison has also expressed interest in the Korle Klottey seat on the ticket of the NPP.
