A Pro-Vice chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor John Gyapong has charged government to stop appointing politicians to head sensitive national institutions like the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).
Citing the Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress(NDC) Kofi Portuphy and his Vice Chairperson, Anita Desoso who are coordinators of NADMO as examples, the Pro-Vice Chancellor said the appointment of these politicians instead of experts does not augur well for Ghana’s development.

The National Coordinator of NADMO, Kofi Portuphy, unseated the former National Chairman of the governing NDC, Dr. Kwabena Adjei.
He won the position by 2,457 votes, representing about 75% of the total votes cast, compared to the 316 by the incumbent Dr. Kwabena Adjei.
Anita Desoso was also elected as Vice Chairperson of the party during last Saturday’s congress.
She was elected along with six others by delegates of the NDC in Kumasi.
