One of the candidates vying for the position of National Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress, (NDC) Alhaji Huudu Yahaya, has withdrawn from the race and thrown his weight behind Kofi Portuphy, the NADMO boss.

According to his Communication Directorate, Huudu Yayha “wishes to inform and announce to all delegates that…he no longer is a candidate for the position of national chairman.”
“He wishes to salute all delegates and party members for their support during his campaign,” he said.
In November, there were reports that he had bowed out of the race but his camp vehemently denied it, blaming his political opponents for spreading such rumours.
But his spokesperson, Abu Afandi old Citi News in an interview that “they heard it on radio from Central Region that one Dawud who is a campaign coordinator for Portuphy’s campaign told delegates that Alhaji has been compelled by Uncle Ato Ahwoi to step down.”
The NDC’s 8th Delegates congress is currently underway at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
The party will be electing new national executives who will steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.
