Guiness Ghana has refuted claims it is circulating text messages, informing recipients that they have won various sums of money as part of the company’s annual anniversary.
A press statement issued by the company described such messages as fraudulent.
“The attention of the management of Guinness Ghana Breweries Ltd (GGBL) has been brought to text messages in circulation purported to have been issued by GGBL informing the recipients that they have won various sums of money as part of GGBL’s annual anniversary. We state emphatically that:
- The messages in circulation are fraudulent and should be completely disregarded by recipients and the general public.
- GGBL is currently not running a national consumer promotion on any of our brands.
- All brand and consumer promotions run by GGBL are widely publicised with clear modalities for participation which never include the provision of banking details or any monetary payments from promotion beneficiaries in order to claim their prize,” it noted.
It therefore advised the public to take such issues very seriously.
“We want to assure our cherished consumers and the general public that we take such issues very seriously and that the matter is being investigated by our security team in collaboration with the security services.”
