The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Super Delegates Congress is underway at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
About 71 delegates in the Northern Region are expected to cast their votes at the ongoing Super Delegates Congress.
They comprise 31 constituency Chairmen, 16 regional executives, 10 Members of Parliament, 8 council of elders and 10 elected members to the National council.
The NPP’s two-time running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s national women’s Organizer, Otiko Afisa Djabah and Anthony Abayifa Karbo have all transferred their votes to the Northern Region and are expected to cast their votes.
About 100 police personnel and 20 army personnel are manning today’s event at the venue.
Also, Officers from the Electoral Commission(EC) led by the regional Director Bruce Ayisi are currently at the Tamale Stadium and are waiting for all the delegates to settle for the exercise to begin.
The Super Delegates Congress is to allow the party prune the number of presidential hopefuls in the party from seven to five.
The exercise is expected to run from morning to 1500GMT on Sunday.
