Information reaching citifmonline.com indicates that the former Ghanaian legislator, Eric Amoateng has been granted bail by the Cocoa Affairs Court, Circuit Court six.
The court, presided over by Justice Ellen Vivian Amoah, granted him a bail condition of GHC200, 000 with 3 sureties to justify. Mr. Amoateng is also expected to report on Mondays and Fridays of every week to the Police CID.
However, his confiscated passport will now be deposited at the Court Registry.
Mr. Amoateng, who arrived in Ghana on Thursday after serving a 10-year jail term in the United States for narcotics offences, is also facing charges for possessing a forged Ghanaian passport.
The former New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North had been detained at the Nima police since Thursday night for using a lady’s passport acquired fraudulently.
He was picked up on his arrival at the Kotoka Airport, where several family relations, sympathizers and NPP supporters massed up to welcome him.
