An aide to a presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has vehemently denied that his boss has been peddling falsehood against Nana Akufo-Addo.
“Alan Kyeremanten will never peddle any falsehood so let me make that point very clear,” Philip Longdon clarified.
This follows an accusation made by a leading member of the NPP, Boakye Agyarko that Mr. Kyeremanten has persistently told lies to Ghanaians in his attempt to lead the NPP in 2016 presidential elections.
Mr Agyarko who was the 2012 campaign manager for Nana Addo alleged that Mr. Kyeremanten’s aim for making the false claims was to discredit Nana Addo and his 2012 campaign in a bid to explain his absence during the said campaign.
“Alan will never do that. He was just stating some facts,” Longdon once again denied.
He explained that his boss was not allowed to join the campaign team of Nana Addo, who represented the party in the 2012 general elections.
According to him, this development “was known to all in the party and it was necessary for him at this point in time to come out and state the facts for the record.”
“Alan has constant conversations with Nana Akufo-Addo who is his comrade. They agree for Alan to go on the campaign trail, but sometimes if Alan actually gets on the campaign trail, various things happen and those are facts,” he said.
The said happenings which occurred during the campaign, according to Longdon are used “as propaganda against him and it is some of those things that he has come out to put the record straight.”
He urged Mr. Agyarko to put the matter to rest to ensure peace within the party.
