The Chairman of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital board, Eddie Annan has resigned.
Mr. Annan has been at the centre of the raging conflict between the management of the hospital and the Senior Staff Association.
The Association petitioned President John Mahama to dismiss the former acting Chief Executive, Rev. Albert Okpoti Botchwey and dissolve the board.
Rev. Botchwey was fired on Thursday after the new Minister of Health re-instated him. He had been ordered to step down by the former Minister of Health, Sherry Ayittey.
Mr. Annan’s resignation was contained in a letter addressed to President John Mahama on Friday, May 25, 2014.
The management and the board have been accused by the Senior Staff Association of mismanaging the hospital’s internally generated funds.
They reportedly purchased luxury vehicles for top management staff.
Mr Annan in his resignation letter called on President to have the hospital investigated for what he calls an “money making block” at the facility.
