Violation of traffic laws won’t be tolerated – MTTD

The Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Police administration is cautioning the general public against violating traffic rules and acting reckless on the roads during the FIFA World Cup period.

‘’The Police administration has noted with concern the fragrant violation of traffic rules and regulations leading to chaos, congestion and increased road traffic crashes. The administration wishes to draw attention of the public that celebration of victories on the roads as well as unnecessary tooting of horns, dangerous driving and riding, as well as driving under the influence of alcohol during such  celebrations will not be countenanced,” the MTTD statement said.

The statement signed by Angwubutoge Awuni, Director General MTTD advised motorist and road users to abide by all road traffic rules.

”Motorists are advised to drive strictly according to the rules and regulations devoid of extending their celebrations to the roads/streets,” the Statement added.

According to the communique the traffic police officers will also be on hand to deal decisively with would be offenders.
