The Northern Regional Police command has dismissed reports that the recent killing on the Gambaga/ Nakpanduri road was orchestrated by suspected armed robbers as reported.
Four persons including two policemen, a driver and banker of the East Mamprusi Community Bank in Gambaga were last week killed at Nasoani in a money carrier.
Earlier media reports speculated that they were killed by suspected armed robbers but police preliminary investigations have proven otherwise.
According to the Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ken Yeboah, the incident was well planned and executed by the unknown assailants.
He said the perpetrators laid ambush on the rough road and sporadically shot into the vehicle which the occupants were travelling with.
It is yet unclear what necessitated the bizarre incident but DCOP Ken Yeboah told Citi News the perpetrators will not go unpunished.
He said residents of the community where the killing took place were unwilling to cooperate with the police in their investigations.
Citi News gathered that two of the deceased, the banker and driver of the East Mamprusi Community Bank have been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic practice.
This was after autopsy was carried on their remains at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
