Senior Ghanaian coach and football administrator, Sam Arday, has congratulated his outfit, Feyenoord Academy, for making it back into the Ghana Premier League, adding that keeping their place among Ghana’s soccer elites would be their prime target.
The Fetteh-based side secured promotion for next year’s First Capital Plus Premier League on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 win over Dunkwa United in the Division One Promotional League Play-off. And a hundred percent record in their three-match adventure would ensure the academy boys qualify in style.
Speaking after the game, the Feyenoord Technical Director, who guided Ghana to gold in the 1995 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Ecuador, expressed profound gratitude to the team for gaining qualification amid various challenges.
“I will like to congratulate head coach John Killa and the entire playing body for this feat,” he told footy-Ghana. “We faced various challenges on our way but we kept our focus.
“We are the first academy to play in the national league. This is our second time of qualifying and we would work hard to stay,” he added.
Feyenoord would hope to enjoy a longer life span in the premier league this time round after a brief spell running from 2004 to 2007.
