Some students of the Cape Coast Nurses and Midwifery Training College are accusing school authorities of exploitation.
The students said the authorities are charging an extra GHC 50 for an impending external examination.
According to them, school authorities are claiming the extra money will be used to pay external invigilators.
Some of the students who spoke to Citi News lamented saying, “it is not mandatory for students to pay such an amount for the examiners upkeep” adding that “it has become a norm that if we are about to write exams, we the students have to contribute for the upkeep of the examiners. We find it as cheating.”
He complained that if the students refuse to pay, the school authorities “won’t give you the instructional sheet and if you don’t have that instructional sheet, you can’t write the paper.”
Another student also stated that he was forced to pay the money because “they told me that if I don’t pay, they will not give me the instructional sheet. Meanwhile, I have paid my registration fees.”
Citi News’ attempts to reach the authorities of the school proved futile.
