The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) says gas supply from Nigeria has increased quite significantly.
This is after a delegation from Ghana led by the Minister of Energy and Petroleum went to Nigeria over the shortage in gas supply from that country.
Supply of gas to Ghana dropped to about thirty million British thermal units from the initial quantity of fifty million.
The shortage also led to a shortfall of the contractual volumes of British thermal units expected from Nigeria.
Speaking to Citi Business News, the Chief Executive Officer of GRIDCo, William Amuna said the increased gas supply has added back a hundred and ten megawatts of power from the Cenit plant in Tema.
“Yesterday about 110 megawatts was added to the system again and the gas supply from Nigeria has actually improved. The level of load shedding has really reduced for now,” Mr. Amuna said
“There are two plants, one was running but the other was not running but with the increased supply of gas, the second one has started working and that resulted in the addition of the 110 megawatts,” he added
