The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South in the Ashanti Region, Gabriel Barima is headed for fresh trouble.
The ‘Tweaaa’ DCE’s fate hangs in the balance after the Sector Minister issued a strongly worded statement to condemn his latest radio interview.
This new sanction could lead to the country’s most famous or infamous DCE losing his position.
Mr. Barima in a recent interview indicated he does not regret the ‘tweaa’ comments he made earlier at a hospital function because according to him, it has made him very popular.
He said: “The ‘tweaa’ issue has rather made me very popular…it makes me very big because how would have a lady in London hear of me had it not been this issue? There are a lot of friends who have been calling to congratulate me…”
But when Citi News contacted him on the press release from the Ministry of Local government regarding the matter, the Tweea DCE said he will not comment.
Below is the full statement
INTERVIEW BY THE HON. DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF AHAFO ANO SOUTH
The Ministry of Local Government takes a serious view of a purported interview granted by the Hon. Gabriel Barima, District Chief Executive of Ahafo Ano South District Assembly to an Accra Radio Station.
Given that the Hon. District Chief Executive had originally shown remorse for his public outburst that attracted condemnation, his comments in the said interview goes to prove otherwise.
In view of this development, the Ministry is reviewing its earlier decision to ensure that Hon. Barima is appropriately sanctioned according to the high standards of public office.
