The former spokesperson of the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC), Major Boakye Djan has described Dr. Josiah Ayeh’s thievery accusations against the government as an “attempt to create a collateral damage for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).”
“Dr. Josiah Ayeh is trying to create a collateral damage not only for politicians but for the NDC and as a professor he ought to know that he has got it all wrong”
A leading member of the National Democratic Party(NDP), Dr. Ayeh criticised government for what it described as “gang of robbers” stealing from the people and leaving the country’s economy in disarray.
But in a rebuttal, the General Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Asiedu Nketsiah said Josiah Ayeh is an example of an intellectual who took bribes.
Giving his comments on the issue on the Citi Breakfast Show,Mr Djan opined that “collateral damage handed on legal principles is clear because politicians by nature are not the truthful but if someone wants to address a certain issue he or she must do it within a certain rule.”
Drawing analysis on comments from Dr. Ayeh and Mr. Nketsaih , Dr. Djan further stated that the fact that the General Secretary named a specific number of individuals as corrupt and Dr. Ayeh who just gave a general figure proved that Mr. Nketsiah’s comments were based on evidence.
“Josiah Aryee has not given any amount; he has not named anybody, unlike Asiedu Nketsiah who gave a specific figure.”
According to him, the media does not have any basis for criticising Mr. Asiedu Nketsiah’s response to thievery accusations against the government by Dr. Josiah Ayeh since those comments were based on evidence.
“Mr. Asiedu Nketsiah comments were backed by substantial evidence so if the General Secretary is questioning Dr. Ayeh’s clean hands, the media should be tolerant and accept it,” he said.
