Cage fighter Conor McGregor is predicted to swap rings again after his £500million boxing match against Floyd Mayweather .

This time pals are forecasting the 28-year-old bruiser will go down on one knee and pop the question to girlfriend Dee Devlin.

One friend told the Mirror: “Word is 2018 is when he’ll take the plunge.”

The couple, who have a baby boy Conor Jr after dating for eight years, could walk down the aisle as soon as next summer in Dublin.

The UFC champ, known as The Notorious, is the second richest sportsman in Ireland after golfer Rory McIlroy.

But Mayweather, 40, has never lost in the ring and showed his class with a dominant display in the early hours of Sunday.

McGregor’s pal, who travelled to Sin City for the fight, told us that Conor will be celebrating despite the result.

He added: “The last few years have been all about his career and becoming a family.

“The Mayweather fight has taken up much of his time this year, but he’s taking a break after it.

“It’ll be the biggest wedding Dublin has seen.

“Conor doesn’t do things by halves. All he has to do now is pop the question.”

McGregor and Dee met in a Dublin nightclub in 2009 and he credits her with driving his ambition to succeed.

He once said: “She stuck by me when I had essentially nothing.”

The pay-per-view fight is officially the most lucrative boxing clash in history.

An estimated 2.93million people illegally watched Floyd Mayweather’s Las Vegas blockbuster against Conor McGregor, according to online security experts.

Saturday’s showdown was available to watch on pay-per-view in 200 countries, with viewers in the United States charged up to $99.95 to see Mayweather extend his record to 50-0 against the UFC star.

But digital security firm Irdeto claim millions of people were able to enjoy the fight on illegal streams through social media platforms such as Facebook, Youtube, Periscope and Twitch.

Though it is not uncommon for internet users to use illegal streaming sites to watch sporting events, Irdeto reported that the majority of the 200 streams they found came via social media.

With viewers in the UK having to fork out £19.95 to watch the event, a number of ‘digital Robin Hoods’ paid the fee before making it available to the world through apps such as Periscope.

Irdeto also found more than 40 online adverts advertising illegal streams for the Las Vegas showdown on a single day.

‘Live sports are a cornerstone of global piracy, with thousands of sites providing illegal content attracting millions of viewers,’ said Rory O’Connor, senior VP of cybersecurity services at Irdeto.

‘When combating live sports piracy, speed in disrupting piracy is essential… by identifying and stopping pirate streams in real-time through specialised knowledge and technology, content owners and operators are able to protect revenue and deliver a greater user experience.’

In his first fight for nearly two years, Mayweather stopped McGregor in the 10th round at the T-Mobile Arena to retire from the sport undefeated.

The McCarran International Airport is Las Vegas has capped the number of private jets parking at the Airport ahead of the Mayweather – McGregor bout.

This is because According to TMZ, the airport implemented a reservation system that had persons interested in parking their private jet at the strip arrange for that ahead of time.

Reports say the airport will still allow private jets to land but they have to fly back after dropping passengers due to the number of jets parking on the tarmacs.

Las Vegas is expecting more than 1,300 private jets to land for the weekend’s action.

A 60% increase has been seen for flights to Las Vegas McCarran airport, compared to usual volumes, according to booking service PrivateFly.

The cost of the ticket for the bout ranges between $1,300 to $6,000.

After months of hype and profanity Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor take their war of words into the ring on Saturday for a boxing mismatch that is poised to become the richest fight in history.

From motorcycle daredevil Evil Knievel to off-the-wall comedian Carrot Top, the Las Vegas strip has seen it all, but nothing quite like the crossover fight between undefeated boxer Mayweather and mixed martial arts champion McGregor.

Boxing purists have dismissed the bout as nothing more than a cash grab with McGregor in line for a $100 million pay day and Mayweather adding upwards of $200 million to push his career earnings towards the $1 billion mark.

Despite what is by most barometers a massive mismatch there is global fascination in the fight that could prove to be the richest in boxing history.

Promoters have sold the bout as “historical,” a fight that will be talked about around the world for years to come and many intrigued fight fans have bought into the hype.

A crowd of close to 20,000 is expected to fill the T-Mobile Arena, where ringside seats on resale sites are being offered for more than $100,000, with millions more around the globe watching on pay-per-view.

There will be no titles on the line, only a gaudy “Money Belt” with a strap made from crocodile leather and featuring 24 karat gold, 3,360 diamonds along with sapphires and emeralds, but much will be riding on the result.

For Mayweather it will be the culmination of a life’s work, a chance to surpass former heavyweight great Rocky Marciano, who retired with a perfect 49-0 career record.

For McGregor, a victory would give him the greatest upset in combat sports history and establish him as a crossover star able to choose big money fights in both the octagon and the ring.

The brash, charismatic Irishman, also known as ’Mystic Mac’ for accurately predicting the outcome of his fights, has gazed into his crystal ball and says he will knock out the 40-year-old American inside two rounds of the scheduled 12-round bout.

Mayweather, a 12-times world champion over five weight divisions who traditionally fights defensive battles, is also calling for a knockout, something he has not done since stopping Victor Ortiz nearly six years ago.

“I’ve said it’s not going the distance and you can mark my words,” said Mayweather. “I know that I’m in for a tough fight but there is one thing I do know, this fight is not going the distance.”

McGregor, who was on social welfare from the Irish government as recently as four years ago, is the blue collar populist champion but the bulk of the money being wagered is all in Mayweather’s corner.

Smaller bets are going on McGregor with UFC fans backing up their loyalty with their wallets. But the Las Vegas smart money is all streaming towards Mayweather with reports of several $1 million bets being laid on the ’Money Man.’

So sure is Irish bookmaker Paddy Power of the outcome that they have already paid out on a Mayweather victory.

As far as McGregor is concerned, anyone betting against him should take their money onto the Strip and set it on fire.

”I will go forward and put the pressure on and break this old man,“ said McGregor. ”I don’t see him lasting two rounds, I feel I will have the decision to end it inside one.

“He’s a beaten man. He will not be able to take the ferociousness that I come with.”

Aside from McGregor’s cocky assurances there is little in the tale of the tape to tip an upset.

Mayweather, who will bring a 49-0 record into the ring, is already recognised as one of the greatest fighters of all-time, a brilliant defensive tactician and counter puncher who has ruled the ring for 21 years.

In the other corner stands hard-hitting McGregor, a two-time world champion in the octagon making his professional boxing debut who will try to do what a long list of great fighters have been unable to do — stop Mayweather.

McGregor’s potential to register the biggest upset in boxing history rests largely with the intangibles.

As aggressive in the ring as he is outside it, the 29-year-old Irishman will have youth and power on his side.

A fearless and vicious fighter taking on an ageing boxer who hasn’t fought in almost two years, McGregor’s best shot at a victory will be connecting with a thundering left hand like the one that dropped Jose Aldo 13 seconds into their UFC featherweight championship fight.

“Everyone knows I can fight. I can give it and I can take,” said Mayweather. “After 21 years I’ve been hit with everything and I’m still right here.”

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor wants to continue both a mixed martial arts and boxing career after Saturday’s super bout with Floyd Mayweather.

Wednesday’s final news conference at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas proved far calmer than any media event in the build-up to what could be the most lucrative fight in boxing history.

McGregor, 29, will earn a reported $100m in his boxing debut at the T-Mobile Arena event, prompting speculation future UFC pay days might not keep him with the organisation.

He said: “When this one is done I will have 20 seconds where I relish in victory and then I will be thinking who is next? I will be looking to compete all over the place.

“After I get victory I will certainly be looking to compete in both sports. Since I’m the king of the boxing ring and king of the MMA maybe I will make my own hybrid. Then if anyone wants to challenge me they can do it in my octagon.”

Mayweather is unbeaten in 49 professional fights

Mayweather cut a refined figure at the MGM event, which was closed to the public. He was seemingly uninterested in exchanging insults, while McGregor had no such qualms, pointing to social media posts his rival has shared of betting slips and stating he thinks Mayweather “may have a gambling problem”.

The undefeated boxer’s father – Floyd Sr – told reporters “a lot” had been taken away from his son’s ability in his two years out of the sport but stressed he still had enough to overcome McGregor.

But Mayweather was defiant when telling BBC Sport he was “going to look good” as he bids for a 50th win from 50 fights.

“I don’t miss the hype and this at all. I’d rather be at home watching TV but this is my job,” said the 40-year-old.

“McGregor can say whatever he wants to say, when it comes down to it I can fight. “Mentally, no athlete in the world is stronger than me.

“To be here 21 years I had to take it extremely seriously. You guys think I am not taking it seriously? I am.”

It was announced the winner of a bout many in boxing have rubbished will receive a one-off belt from the World Boxing Council called ‘The Money Belt’.

It contains 3,360 diamonds, 600 sapphires, 300 emeralds and 1.5kg of solid gold, mounted on alligator leather.

It is the latest opulent addition to a fight which could earn $600m (£469m) and which will challenge the record of 4.6 million pay-per-view buys set when Mayweather defeated Manny Pacquiao in 2015.

Stephen Espinoza, the head of the Showtime network, told reporters breaking the record was “in the realm of possibility” and stressed a key factor was that the fight will be televised in more than 220 countries, a marked increase on the Mayweather-Pacquiao reach.

“If we don’t get there, it will be very close,” he said.

Potential record pay-per-view income, added to merchandising, ticket sales and sponsorship will deliver McGregor the type of purse which will only prompt further questions as to how UFC can satisfy its main star when he returns.

His exact earnings will remain unknown thanks to a non-disclosure agreement signed by both fighters.

UFC president Dana White told reporters it was possible the pay day could prompt McGregor to retire, adding “whatever happens, I’m happy for him”.

“When he knocks Floyd out his legacy will be that he is the greatest combat sports star ever,” White told BBC Sport. “He will be the biggest star on earth.”

White also hit back at criticism of the bout, singling out legendary boxing promoter Bob Arum as an “idiot” and a “moron”.

“Arum said this is like LeBron James fighting Anthony Joshua,” added White.

“Conor McGregor is a fighter and has done it his whole life. It is not the end of the world or the end of boxing if he knocks Floyd out on Saturday night.

“The naysayers will be asking different questions on Sunday morning. This is not a boxing match, it’s a fight.”
