Inesfly Africa Limited and Sahara Commodities have signed a distribution agreement for the latter to begin commercial distribution of the Inesfly range of products in the southwestern African nation, Namibia.

This was announced in a joint communiqué issued by both parties—Inesfly Africa and Sahara Commodities. The latter visited Inesfly Africa headquartered in Ghana, for a training session relating to technical and product knowledge and route-to-market strategies.

Expressing his excitement about the trade deal, CEO of Sahara Commodities, Mr. Shahil Morar, said they are glad to be part of the Inesfly family noting that the license to distribute Inesfly’s range of insecticide products will not only empower the Namibian economy through job creation, but will address significantly the negative impact of insect-pest infestation in the country.

“Namibia, like any other country, is not free from insect-pest infestation, and we’re very optimistic that Inesfly’s range of insecticide products will help address the nation’s quest in curbing vector-borne diseases”, he added.

In March 2017, the Namibian High Commissioner to Ghana, Charles B. Josob, on the occasion of Ghana’s 60th Independence Anniversary celebration, made a clarion call on Ghana and Namibia to strengthen bilateral trade ties for the economic and sustainable development of the two nations.

Barely two months following this call, Inesfly Africa and Sahara Commodities have taken first steps in that direction and are poised to partner for mutual gains.

CEO at Inesfly Africa, Michael Sjodin, noted that the trade agreement with Sahara Commodities in Namibia is an important step towards enhancing business ties between the two nations, and, importantly, delivering on its commitment to fighting vector infestations in all of Africa.

“Inesfly Africa as a total insecticide solutions company has a vision of reducing and ultimately eradicating vector infestations in multi-sectors including Public Health, Agriculture, Hospitality and Veterinary Health across Africa. Already, we are actively present in Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo-Brazzaville, DR Congo and Cote D’Ivoire, just to mention a few, and the goal is to be present in 25 African countries by close of 2017”, he added.

Inesfly Africa deals in a range of insecticide products for multi-sectors including public health, veterinary health, hospitality and agriculture. Some of the products are the Exterior and Interior insecticide Paint, Floor Cleaner, Bed Bug and EM House solution for treatment against all insects especially bed bugs.

Its flagship technology, the microencapsulation technology, traps the insecticides into micro bubbles which are then released slowly over an extended period of time thereby allowing for their long term efficacy while proving safe for humans and pets.

It also uses the Insect Growth Regulator, which allows for the insecticides to deal with the total life cycle of the insect including the egg, the larvae, the pupa and the adult. This prevents re-infestation and leads ultimately to eradication.

Inesfly Africa Limited has launched a campaign to rid all educational institutions in the country of bedbugs.

This is in line with the company’s general strategy of eradicating insect vectors in various public institutions including health, hospitality, and veterinary health facilities.  the menace of bedbug infestations in our institutions of learning has called for an urgent response to curtail the situation before it escalates into a national disaster.

The company said the campaign was born out of the worrying trend of bedbugs infestation at some public facilities in the country and believes that an urgent response must be adopted to address the situation before it escalates into a national disaster.

It said as part of its corporate social responsibility activities, it will commence the project in selected educational institutions ranging from basic to tertiary institutions.

“Many schools have benefited from this initiative in the past, yet the company is determined to extend support to as many schools as possible.”

“Alongside the corporate social responsibility activities, Inesfly Africa has designed a 500ml bedbug solution exclusively for students. Already, the company has a 100ml bedbug solution in the market which is highly patronized by students, but upon a thorough assessment of the current bedbug menace threatening educational institutions, the company put together a special 500ml bedbug solution purposely for students at a slightly higher price than the 100ml bedbug solution for the regular market.”

The Chief Commercial Officer at Inesfly Africa, Mr. David Afugani, said the plight of students has always been an integral part of Inesfly’s vision, and the company cannot but do whatever that needs to be done in order to ensure that students are free from insect and pests to carry on with their learning activities.

“Students need a very conducive learning environment rid of the fear of insect bites and vector transmitted diseases. Sadly, this is not the case, and very soon, the situation will get out of hand if nothing is done.  Inesfly Africa has the one-stop solution to fighting bedbugs and other insect-pests, and we believe that while liaising with the relevant stakeholders to deliver our promise, we can, in the meantime, meet students half-way in addressing the crisis,”  he added.

Two weeks ago, Inesfly Africa painted ten CHPS compounds in ten districts in the Greater Accra Region adding to the number of district, regional and private hospitals treated by the company.

The company is also in collaboration with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to ensure that our public toilets are rid of insect-vectors. With the current campaign to reach out to students with the 500ml bedbug solution, Inesfly Africa is certain that would significantly curb the spread of bedbugs in schools and reduce the risk of onward transfer to homes.

In a joint durbar with the Ghana Health Service,  at Apenkwa in the Greater Accra Region, Inesfly Africa announced its commitment to paint ten Community-based Health Planning Services Compounds in ten districts in the Greater Accra Region.

This is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility roll out in 2017 and its commitment to improve the quality of health services in our health facilities.

A survey conducted by Inesfly Africa revealed that our CHPS compounds were not only in deplorable states, they were also engulfed by insect-pests, ironically infesting more people with vector transmitted diseases instead of being the safe havens they’re supposed to be. The theme for the durbar, dubbed “Health Improvement Through Insect and Vector Control”,therefore, reflected the growing need for our health institutions to adopt a holistic approach in their quest to offer true health services to the people.

Speaking on the theme, the CEO of Inesfly Africa Limited, Michael Sjodin, noted the seriousness of the situation and the need for all relevant stakeholders to collaborate in order to fight the infestation of insect-vectors in our health facilities.

“Inesfly Africa Limited, as an entity committed to ensuring that we all have pest-free lives, understands the urgency of the situation at hand, the enormity of the task ahead, and the need for partnership with relevant stakeholders to nib the situation in the bud. In our own little way, we’re setting the pace by treating ten Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compounds in deprived communities in ten districts of the Greater Accra region. We hope this move will draw the attention of all involved to fight collectively against insect-pests”, he remarked.

The Greater Accra Regional Director of Health, Dr. Linda Van Otoo, commended Inesfly Africa for the generous initiative, noting that it was a timely intervention.

“We as health personnel need to ensure that our clients are safe and do not risk picking one infection in the quest to treat another”, she said.

Health operators at the CHPS compounds expressed their gratitude and excitement at the initiative by Inesfly Africa.

“I’m happy that finally we have a lasting solution to the problem of insect-pests here in this compound. Our clients won’t worry and complain again, and we too will be at rest to do our work”, Salma Norga, a community health nurse at the Otsirikomfo CHPS compound said.

Some of the ten CHPS Compounds to benefit from this initiative include Adedetsekope in Ada East, Madavunu in Ada West, Anyaa in Ga Central, Otsrikomfo in Ga West. The others are Asuom Osofo Lamptey in Ga South, Appolonia in Kpone Katamanso, Nyigbenya in Ningo Prampram, Natrigu in Shai and Apenkwa in the Accra Metro.
