Multinational Family Holding Business, Groupe Ndoum has promised to bail out rural banks that are unable to meet the Bank of Ghana’s minimum capital requirement of GHc 1 million cedis.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gold Coast Fund Management, Kwame Asumaning gave the assurance at the Northern Ghana sector Rural Banks Seminar in Tamale.

“Groupe Ndoum is ready to assist rural banks unable to raise the 1 million as minimum capital in line with the Bank of Ghana’s directive. We will support you, build you up and encourage financial inclusion.”

According to him, GN Bank, which is an offshoot of Groupe Ndoum, is strengthened by the competition in the rural banking sector, hence the move to sustain financial integration.

He reaffirmed Groupe Ndoum’s commitment to build synergies with clients and rural banks to become active industry players in the banking sector.

“The essence of the seminar is to cement Group Ndoume’s relationship with its customers and industry players in the rural banking sector.”

He allayed the fears of the management of rural banks that GN Bank’s national visibility was to frustrate their operations but rather to enhance competition.

“Trust and believe in Groupe Ndoum to meet your needs. Goupe Ndoum is ready to support rural banks to grow.”

There were presentations on the achievements of other sectors of Groupe Ndoum including the GN Life and GN Mobile banking.

The seminar brought together rural bank managers and their stakeholders from the three regions of the north.

Upper West Regional Manager of Gold Coast Fund Management, Augustine Tugbog stated that, “We are committed to providing exceptional products for customer satisfaction. Be reassured of improved products and services that will add value to your businesses.”

The participants raised concerns about the influx of GN Banks which according to them is affecting rural banks sustainability.

With 25 years good standing in the banking sector, the Gold Coast Fund Management has created jobs and added value to rural banking.

The refurbished Tamale branch of the Gold Coast Fund Management was also relaunched.

Groupe Nduom, a multinational Ghanaian company, has announced plans to open a Groupe Nduom (GN) Liaison Office in Washington DC, United States of America.

President and Chairman of GN, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, made this known while speaking at Ghana’s 61st Independence Anniversary Dinner in Washington DC, USA, at the weekend.

[contextly_sidebar id=”f16NTyJvXYyC1czRq50US7y5A3uablIC”]The anniversary dinner was organised by the Council of Ghanaian Associations (COGA) of the Washington Metro Area.

According to Dr. Nduom, “by the end of this month [March 2018], we [GN] will open a Groupe Nduom Liaison Office in this Metro Area, specifically 5509 Vine Street, Alexandria.”

The move, he explained, will, among other things, help promote products and services offered by GN in West Africa.

Dr. Nduom recounted how his group in April 2016, acquired what he described as a “small bank on the South side of Chicago called ISF Bank.”

“We are about to introduce a product, PayGlobal, in partnership with ISF Bank, so that you can open an account with the bank and feed your PayGlobal Digital wallet with funds.”

This, Dr. Nduom said, will make it possible for Ghanaians in Washington DC to send money directly to Ghana from an ISF bank account using the PayGlobal app.

He went on to give the assurance that this will happen before June this year, adding that “When you patronise PayGlobal, you will help Ghana earn foreign currency because we will use it to support local businesses in Ghana.”

He said Groupe Nduom celebrates merit, explaining that it is because of this that “we chose “Beyond Excellence” as our slogan.”

Giving a brief history of how Groupe Nduom started, Dr. Nduom disclosed that it was started in the USA in the 1980s, and now actively operates in all the ten regions of Ghana.

He added that the company employs over 6,000 people in Ghana.

“We now operate across West Africa, in the UK and in the USA. We have learnt that we cannot be like anyone else in Ghana. Indeed, we cannot blend in and become one with our sometimes dysfunctional Ghanaian environment. We must go beyond excellence, be different, to remain competitive,” Dr Nduom said.

Dr. Nduom donated an undisclosed amount of money on behalf of Groupe Nduom to support a fund raising by COGA towards a health and education project in Ghana.
He also seized the opportunity to inform members of COGA, Washington DC, that Groupe Nduom has a Foundation, which gives scholarships every year to ten boys and ten girls, sponsoring them from high school to any university of their choice in Ghana.

Dr. Nduom advised Ghanaians in the USA against being tempted to fall into the “partisan politics trap.”

In his view, one cannot be a successful business person or professional in America “if your claim to your position is that you belong to a certain political party.”

He lamented that Ghana was suffering today in part “because many want the easy political solution to solve problems that confront them.”

“We all know the situation in Ghana 61 years after independence. Unreliable health care, very high unemployment, poor sanitation, underdeve
loped infrastructure among many other problems creates conditions for a low quality of life for most of our people,” Dr Nduom bemoaned.

He therefore urged Ghanaians to move beyond partisan politics and unite as one people to find solutions desperately needed back home.

He commended COGA executives and members for keeping Ghanaian customs and culture alive in the Washington Metropolitan area.

Groupe Nduom businesses include banking, investment banking, media, electronics, logistics, hospitality, insurance, private equity, pension, sports, academia, estate development among others.

In the USA, the group owns ISF Bank based in Chicago, Illinois. Also in Liberia, GN Bank, a member of Groupe Nduom, has eight (8) branches.

In Ghana, there are over 300 GN Bank branches.

Groupe Nduom Foods Company Limited, a subsidiary of Groupe Nduom, a multinational conglomerate, has shown its determination to become an active producer in the Ghanaian food manufacturing industry.

The company, which is currently into rice production, is poised to expand its tentacles to cover crop production like cassava, maize, sorghum, soya and cashew.

The company invested in the Worawora Rice Mill based in the Northern part of the Volta Region, in 2016, and has since replaced the milling equipment with new ones.

This mill currently produces 100 metric tons of rice a day. The company is in the process of building one more mill in the Central Region, and another one in the Northern Region so as to increase its production capacity to 300 metric tonnes a day by the end of 2018.

In December 2017, the company sold some of its rice to an American based charity, which is supporting about 18 missions across the country.

The charity organisation has been supporting several orphanages and other charity projects across the country. According to Mr. Percival Ofori Ampomah, the US based charity was formerly importing about 274 metric tons of rice into Ghana for consumption, but has now stopped the rice importation after building a relationship with Groupe Nduom Foods.

The tremendous role that the company is currently playing in the country cannot be over emphasized.

“We have seen a very high rate of imports, which is not good for the economy. Ghana, in 2016 alone, imported close to 2 billion dollars worth of food – in a country that has plenty of land, very highly qualified people, and plenty of skills. Though some personnel are not trained, at least you have people who are able to operate machinery. So, why is this happening in Ghana? It’s a clear example of the Dutch disease. This is something that needs to be addressed,” World Bank Country Director for Ghana, Henry Kerali, made these statements at a stakeholders’ forum organised by the American Chamber of Commerce, Ghana recently.

These sentiments can also be backed by statistics from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), which shows that more than 60% of rice consumed in Ghana is imported, and this puts a huge pressure on the country’s foreign exchange reserves thereby also putting pressure on the Ghana cedi.

It is against this backdrop that Groupe Nduom Foods has targeted, and is already making inroads with the addition of other mills to increase rice production so that millions dollars of import bills can be substituted.

“As we build more factories and expand processing capacity, we increase our demand for paddy rice, which means more work for local farmers and most importantly more money to the farmers to support their families. While these factories themselves will create a large number of jobs for the local communities in which they are cited, the real gains in terms of employment will come from the impact our out grower operations will have on the farmers and the farming communities,” General Manager, Mr. Ampomah further explained.

He said these are some of the strategies and steps that the company has put in place to lead in the transformation of the food manufacturing industry to become an exporter in the near future.

The company is optimistic that by making such strategic investments, it will help create a trail for other investors to follow and invest in the sector and build more factories and expand processing capacity.

]]>
Vice President of Groupe Nduom, Papa-Wassa Chiefy Nduom, has urged the Bank of Ghana [BoG], to consider investing foreign currency reserves into bitcoin.

Chiefy Nduom, a Bitcoin enthusiast with a background in banking technology, believes that the bitcoin cryptocurrency could become digital gold for Ghana and other countries on the African continent.

[contextly_sidebar id=”zrSATyRmO8WwaZ5ybOtV5i8OXwqhQZmf”]Just in 2018, bitcoin jumped to $14,951 on January 3 from $13,354 on January 1.

Bitcoin went up by nearly 1,300 percent in 2017 to $13,800 on December 31, 2017, from $999 on January 1 2017.

“Just as investors will take gold and store it in their banks around the world to hedge against risks that they can’t perceive because they can’t predict the future, people are doing the same thing with bitcoin,” Mr. Nduom noted in a video message ushering in 2018.

In his view, bitcoin could also serve as a cushion against the fall in the value of dollar reserves, hence his advise to the BoG.

“In Ghana, in particular, I think the Central Bank should look very carefully into putting maybe up to 1 percent of our dollar reserves into bitcoin, studying the space and announcing to the world that we are going to be open for investment in bitcoin… we need to be heavily invested in these areas.”

Boosting development

Paying more attention to bitcoin could also aid Ghana’s aim to become less aid dependent, Mr. Nduom added.

“We want to move away from aid to trade so let’s trade digital assets and eventually put in a tax-free regime where international investors can invest in trade and digital currencies but those gains won’t be taxed.”

The exchanges as part of the trading will be taxed and that “will bring massive freeing of exchange reserves into the country, and allow us to profit from this ongoing phenomenon.”

“… but the first step that would signal a great message is for the brilliant minds at the Bank of Ghana to study this asset and consider just 1 percent. Lets put it in there and see what happens because every investment is a risk,” Mr. Nduom concluded on the point.

13 African countries should buy Bitcoin right now

Chief Nduom in an article suggested a list of 12 other countries apart from Ghana, who should take advantage of the Bitcoin regime.

Bitcoin is a digital currency created in 2009. It offers the promise of lower transaction fees than traditional online payment mechanisms, and is operated by a decentralized authority, unlike government-issued currencies.

Today’s market cap for all bitcoin in circulation exceeds $7 billion. It can be used to purchase goods and services.

The President of Groupe Nduom, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom says although the Groupe has made some significant gains, he still believes “we are at the foundation stage.”

His assertion is premised on the fact that the Groupe has not as yet reached its targeted destination.

[contextly_sidebar id=”k8g1NKB80EgzM3drSdoHqYW8AQ78zjFL”]Dr. Nduom was addressing the half-year management meeting of Groupe Nduom at the Nduom School of Business & Technology (NBS&T) at Ayensudu, near Elmina in the Central Region.

The meeting is being attended by over 100 management members of Groupe Nduom drawn from sectors like Banking, Investment Banking, Manufacturing, Hospitality & Sports, Media, Printing, and Logistics. The rest are Insurance, Education, Health, Energy & Power, Technology Electronics and others.

According to Dr Nduom, Groupe Nduom was still strengthening it foundation to ensure that the Groupe becomes the best and can stand the test of time.

The best destination, Dr Nduom said will mean the Groupe has the best human resource base, show competence in all areas of operations, good customer relations, and work with a sense of urgency and discipline.

In the estimation of Dr Nduom, the best Groupe Nduom module comes with it the protection of company properties, dealing ruthlessly with fraud and stealing and showing unalloyed loyalty to the Groupe.

In the case of fraud and stealing, Dr Nduom disclosed that ‘’some of our former employees are in jail for stealing while others are struggling to pay monies that they had stolen together with their collaborators.”

In the opinion of Dr Nduom, it is only when all these factors are consolidated that the Groupe can say it has built a strong and vibrant entity that can stand the test of time.

He commended Gold Coast, a subsidiary of Groupe Nduom for not losing even a pesewa of the over One billion Ghana Cedis that it has raised over the period. It is one big achievement that Dr Nduom believes was largely due to the diligence of management team of Gold Coast.

In the case of GN Bank, Dr Nduom was happy that the bank was about to hit the 300 branches mark before the end of the year.

He urged Coconut Grove Hotels, a subsidiary of Groupe Nduom to live it business tag of being a facility that offers ‘’Memories worth Repeating’’ and not to only bask in the glory of having one of the best physical structures. He announced that after its latest addition at Sakumono in Accra, Coconut Grove Hotel will have another branch in Kumasi that will be up and operating very soon and two others in Wa and Tamale in the Upper West and Northern Regions.

Interestingly, materials used to construct most of the Groupe subsidiaries were provided by EPPL, a member company of Groupe Nduom and Dr Nduom disclosed that same materials are being used to construct Groupe model houses for staff and other commercial purposes.

He also disclosed that the Groupe now has a liaison offices in the US and the United Kingdom where customers and particularly prospective ones will be briefed on how to do business with Groupe Nduom back home in Ghana, adding that the Groupe hopes to strengthen its brands in French speaking West Africa countries like La Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Togo.

Dr Nduom told the meeting that the Nduom School of Business & Technology will start admission this year where undergraduates will have the opportunity of having practical on the job experience with some of the Groupe Nduom companies.

He further disclosed that the Bank of Ghana has approved GN Mobile Money, one of the new products of Groupe Nduom and announced that the Groupe has launched what he calls ‘’The Rice Revolution’’, where Groupe Nduom hopes to produce the best rice that can compete with any other rice product in the world, adding that apart from Worawora and Assin Bereku, the Groupe will open Rice Mills in Karaga in Northern Ghana, the Brong Ahafo and Eastern Regions. The session ends on Sunday, July 2nd, 2017.

The Groupe Nduom (GN) Foundation and Safe Water Network will on Thursday 22nd June, 2017, commission another water project at Otwereso in the Eastern Region.

This is coming on the heels of two water projects that were commissioned at Abeyee and Berase in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem (KEEA) District of the Central Region.

All the three water stations were constructed at an estimated cost of $300,000, and will provide safe, affordable and reliable water access to over 12,000 people.

[contextly_sidebar id=”RwBMD4EMCJ3LUpmDEebCH1uOof0hjLUJ”]According to the President of Groupe Nduom, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, safe water access is directly related to health.

“This is why the GN Foundation found it necessary to invest in these projects in order to improve the health of people,” he noted in a statement.

Safe Water Network has launched water stations in 95 communities in six regions, providing water access for nearly 300,000 people in Ghana.

The water stations also known as H20ME water enterprises, apply a Limited Mechanization System (LMS) technology with chlorine dosing equipment, and will produce an average of 60,000 litres of water daily.

A network of 5 standpipes have been provided in each of the three (3) communities, to ensure convenient water access with plans to introduce a household connection program and mobile enabled water ATMs.
