The sixth and final brand-new Hyundai Accent saloon car in the Coral Paints ‘Paint Your Dream Into Reality’ promotion, has been handed over to a 36-year old electrical engineer, Francis Karikari Owusu.

Coral Paints started the promotion in April 2017, and ended in October, giving away five brand-new cars to different winners after they found the dummy key in the Coralatex 18L pails.

[contextly_sidebar id=”X0edVzNPlMrz9FkteJ9FK0RCwcHEimf9″]Mr. Owusu received the keys to the sixth and last car from the General Manager of Coral Paints Ghana, Yaw Bonnah-Sarpong, at the Coral Colour Centre in Accra on Thursday.

Presenting the keys to the Electrical Engineer, Mr. Bonnah-Sarpong expressed appreciation to all the previous winners, and said Coral Paints will continue to create innovative activities to reward their numerous clients for their support over the years.

Receiving the keys to the brand-new Hyundai Accent car, Mr. Karikari Owusu thanked Coral Paints for making his dream come into reality, after pestering his boss to get him a car.

Narrating how he won the car, he said his boss bought four of the Coralatex 18L pails to repaint his office, but upon reaching the office, his boss asked him to unpack the paints in order for the painters to start work.

According to him, “it was upon seeing the receipts of the paints that I realized Coral Paints was running a promotion, hence I decided to open the paint buckets myself to see if I will find the dummy key.”

After opening the second bucket of paint, Mr. Karikari saw the dummy key and quickly called his boss to inform him about it.

“Fortunately for me, my boss asked me to take it because I found the dummy key,” he noted.

He sent the dummy key to the Coral office where he was asked to present the receipt of purchase, and the dummy key, which he did, and that was confirmed the sixth and last winner of the six cars.

The ‘Paint Your Dream Into Reality’, is the company’s third promotion campaign.

In the first promotion in 1995, the winner received a brand new house.

In the second promotion, Coral Ghana sponsored some customers on an all-expense paid trip to Brazil to watch the national football team, the Black Stars at the FIFA World Cup in 2014.

A 29-year-old accountant from the Central Region, Abdul-Jabber Agyemang has won the third of the six brand new cars in the ‘PAINT YOUR DREAM INTO REALITY’ promotion by Coral Paints Ghana.

Mr. Agyemang was presented with a brand-new Hyundai Accent saloon car at the Coral Colour Centre in Accra on Thursday, July 6, 2017 in the presence of family and friends. He received the keys to the car from the Business Development Manager of Coral Paints Ghana, Mr. Luiz Carlos Da Silva.

An elated Mr. Agyemang in a brief remark explained that he least expected to win the car because he thought such promotions were facades to reward a selected few.

“But whenever I buy Coral Paints, I do the painting with some friends because of the T-Shirts in the 18L pails of Coralatex.” According to him, he bought six of the 18L pails of Coralatex for a project and later bought three, and found the dummy key in one of the three.

He further stated that he will do a thanksgiving service as a Muslim to give back to the poor in his community in the Central Region because he has also received a reward from Coral Paints.

The Business Development Manager of Coral Paints, Mr. Luiz Carlos Da Silva in his remarks said the promotion is being used to reward customers and show the company’s gratitude for their loyalty over the many years they have been operating in Ghana as the leading player in the paint industry.

Mr. Da Silva explained the features of the Coralatex 18 Litre pail and added that “we willingly chose the Coralatex as the star of the campaign because it is the product with the highest spreading rate on the market (375m2 per 18L bucket) and the only Premium Acrylic Emulsion with UV resistant pigments. This means that the colours will keep their original shade without fading for a very long time.”

Commenting on the rationale for the promo, the Business Development Manager said “We are pleased and blessed to be improving the lives of people and helping them to paint their dreams into reality. Who wouldn’t like to win a car and save some money as well? The star brand of the promotion, the Coralatex 18 Litre pail is a big money saver because, when you calculate the cost of the product by square meter, you will realize that Coralatex is less costly than other products in the market, in the same category (Premium Quality Acrylic Emulsion).

To participate in the promotion, one has to buy an 18L Coralatex pail (in standard colours only). With every pail, the purchaser wins a free T-shirt. Any of the pails might also hold a dummy key that entitles the finder to win one of the 2017 Hyundai Accent saloon cars at stake. The winner must submit an original copy of Purchase Invoice, the dummy key, and any valid ID to redeem the prize. The promotion is running till October 3, 2017.

Coral Paints has presented a brand-new Hyundai Accent salon car to a 50-year-old painter, Mr. Mensah Koevi, the second winner in its ‘Paint your dream into reality’ promotion.

Four cars remain to be won in the promotion which ends in October 2017.

Mr. Koevi received the key to the brand-new Hyundai Accent salon car at a short ceremony at the premises of Emmkwab Enterprise, one of the accredited Coral Paints distributors in Tema. It was presented to him by Mr. Yaw Bonnah-Sarpong, General Manager of M&K Ghana Ltd., dealers in Coral Paints.

“I have been a loyal customer of Coral Paints since 1996,” Mr. Koevi said as he received the key to the car. “I believe God is rewarding me for being faithful to Coral over the years.”

An elated Mr. Koevi, a married man with five children, explained that prior to winning the car, he had bought more than one hundred paint pails for various projects since the start of the promotion, but found the dummy key to the car in one of two pails he bought last week.

“After, my boy Mario (nephew) and I found the dummy key, we went on our knees and prayed to thank God,” Mr. Koevi said.

“We were so happy and we couldn’t believe our good fortune. But it’s true and here I am driving away a car I can call my own.”

Mr. Koevi, an experienced painter with over 25 years experience, believes that his unflinching loyalty to Coral Paint is what has made him so successful in his chosen vocation.

“I couldn’t do this job without Coral Paints,” he said.

He advised his fellow painters to use Coral Paints in order to add a touch of class and premium quality to their jobs.

“Just try Coral Paints now and thank me later,” he said.

In brief remarks, Mr. Bonnah-Sarpong expressed his delight at the emergence of a second winner in the ‘paint your dream into reality promotion’, adding that the promotion, in its third month, is going well as planned.

“We are pleased and blessed to be improving the lives of people, and helping them to paint their dreams into reality,” Mr. Sarpong said.

“Who wouldn’t like to win a car and save some money as well? The star brand of the promotion, the Coralatex 18 Litre pail is a big money saver because it has the highest spreading rate on the market and it is also the only exterior paint that has UV resistant pigments. This means that colours will keep their original shade without fading for much longer.”

Winners must submit the original copy of purchase invoice, the dummy key and a valid ID card to redeem prize. The promotion is running till 3rd October, 2017.

The Executive Director of the Consumer Protection Agency(CPA), Mr. Kofi  Kapito says consumers will be unable to pay the full cost of petroleum products if government totally scraps the subsidies on them.

According to Mr. Kapito, Ghanaians cannot bear the full cost of petroleum products since most of them are low income earners.

Government spent GH¢1.5 billion on petroleum subsidy alone from 2009 to 2012.

Consumers currently pay about 72 percent subsidies for kerosene and 88 percent for the premix fuel used in the fishing industry respectively.

Ghana is currently experiencing fuel shortage due to government’s inability to pay about 1.5 billion cedis owed the Bulk Oil Distributors Company and other Oil Marketing Companies.

The shortage has generated public debate as to whether government should continue subsidizing petroleum products or allow consumers to bear the full cost.

Speaking at Citi FMs Roundtable discussion on Fuel Subsidies, Mr. Kapito noted that “consumers will also have to pay more for public transportation if subsidies on petroleum products are scrapped off.”

“My only question from the consumer side is that how am i going to afford to pay for these services that I am being asked to pay.It is going to be a chicken and egg situation,”Mr. Kapito said.

According to him, “it will be difficult if government does not provide other means of transportation when the full recovery policy is implemented.”

He noted that the “challenge of Ghanaians is their  inability to enjoy social interventions in terms of petroleum products.”
