Moderated by Journalist and Television News Anchor, Nana Aba Anamoah, the panel discussion was led by the CEO for AirtelTigo, Roshi Motman and High-Performance Coach and CEO of Allure Africa Limited, Dzibordi Kwaku Dosoo.

Opening the session, some of the Women in AirtelTigo shared their thoughts on the theme ‘Press for Progress’ and also shared their journey – both professional and personal experiences.

Roshi Motman thanked the women for their commitment to AirtelTigo and their patience in managing the changes that are currently on-going in the business following the merger between former Tigo and Airtel.

Sharing her own personal example and observation she said women often undervalue their talents and asked employees to be bold and step forward for leadership roles.

She pledged that AirtelTigo is committed to diversity and inclusion and as the company harmonizes its policies and processes, it will adopt only best practices from either former Tigo or Airtel.

Dzibordi Kwaku Dosoo, encouraged women to bring their partners into the conversation so they can find a good balance between life at work, home and beyond. “It is important for us to bring the men into the conversation, they are married to working women and play a big role in pressing for progress.

She encouraged Women in AirtelTigo to consistently improve on their competencies so they can take up leadership roles across the business and elsewhere.

As part of International Women’s Month, the engagement team in AirtelTigo is also doing a series of profiles celebrating women in the business. This forms part of the bigger change management programme following the merger between Airtel and Tigo in November 2017.

Staff of the company read to the pupils and donated school supplies, including exercise books, mathematical instruments, school bags, mugs among others to both schools in separate events.

Established in the 1960s, Tupaa MA Basic School was in a state of disrepair, until the erstwhile Tigo brand built a new six-unit classroom block with a head teacher’s office and toilet facilities under their Shelter for Education programme.

Adaklu Abuadi Salvation Army School, was also refurbished by former Airtel Ghana Limited. They upgraded a three-unit classroom in 2012.

Receiving staff of AirtelTigo, Headmaster of Tupaa MA Basic School, Father Joseph Opoku Darko, expressed their gratitude to AirtelTigo for the support over the years. He emphasized that enrolment has increased since the company built the new school for them.

“We used to teach under shed and were exposed to the weather. Since we got a new school, academic performance has improved in a safe and conducive environment. We can also have extra classes because we have electricity connection in the classrooms. Unlike the past, teachers now accept posting to the school and are happy to stay.”

He continued that: “Parents in the community are now confident of the wellbeing of their children because they are in a secure place. The student population has increased from 84 to 164.”

The headmistress of Adaklu Abuadi Salvation Army School, Bright Boateng, also thanked AirtelTigo for their support, noting that “the items would improve quality of teaching and learning in the community”.

Amanda Abban was also thrilled to receive GHS1,000. “I saw the promotion on my phone through a text message which asked customers to answer questions to gain points. I am so happy I won.”

Since December 20^th, 2017 when the promotion started, over 60 customers have received various prizes, including the daily cash of GHS1,000, a weekly cash of GHS3,000, a monthly cash of GHS5,000 and a touch screen laptop. Over the Christmas and New Year holidays, some customers also won iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy A5 handsets.

Customers of AirtelTigo can participate in the promotion by sending START to short code 470 for 40 pesewas daily and then answer a series of questions to accumulate points. A win is only guaranteed if a customer attained the highest accumulated points for each day, week or month.

The AirtelTigo ‘Win Everyday’ promotion will end on 19^th April 2018, with a grand prize of GHS100,000 for the ultimate winner, followed by the second prize of GHS75,000 and the third prize of GHS50,000 cash.
