A former Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Microfinance and Small Loan Center (MASLOC), Mustapha Abubakar, has accused the current management of the centre of procuring about 1,800 new vehicles.

“As we speak, the boss has ordered for 1,800 vehicles. It is being procured from a company called Dextro Impex. If you have vehicles sitting there and you are saying that they are expensive and you cannot give it out to members, how come you are finding money to go and buy 1,800 vehicles of 2011 model to give it out to people,” he insisted on Citi FM’s news analysis programme, The Big Issue on Saturday.

[contextly_sidebar id=”XJOBnduZ5zhpKcLlVuXpjbNpB8QHCqKw”]But the current deputy CEO for MASLOC, who was also speaking on The Big Issue rejected the claim saying “it is not true.”

“There is so much debt to be cleared and that is our focus. We have no money and we don’t even have any agreement,” she added.

350 abandoned vehicles

MASLOC is currently in the news for procuring some 350 vehicles meant for drivers belonging to the GPRTU, but were rejected by the union because it was said to be “too expensive.”

MASLOC was established primarily to provide micro and small loans for start-ups and small businesses to enable them to grow and expand.

In the past few years, it has been involved in the sale of cars on credit to individuals and groups including Members of Parliament, musicians and celebrities; however, it is challenged with retrieving the monies owed it.

Some have viewed it as a business that ends up rewarding political party members.

The management of MASLOC has so far confiscated 350 of such vehicles, and is currently in the process of retrieving the monies believed to be over GHc100 million.

The Deputy Executive Secretary of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Maame Afia Akoto, has revealed that her outfit has asked the Attorney General (AG) to review the deal involving the purchase of 350 vehicles under the previous administration.

According to her, checks had revealed that the cars which were being sold for $9, 000 in the showrooms of MAC Auto & Spare Parts Ghana Limited, had been purchased by the government at a cost of about $16, 000 per vehicle from the same company resulting in a reported loss of about $2 million.

[contextly_sidebar id=”R5HOIQnKIOEvWYCMGb622mJSA8UOtFZ3″]The vehicles were meant for the use of drivers from the Ghana Roads and Transport Union (GPRTU) on a hire purchase basis.

The Statesman Newspaper reported earlier on Tuesday that the 100 Chevrolet Spark vehicles, 150 Chevrolet Aveo vehicles and 100 Izusu buses, had been “left at the mercy of the weather” after GPRTU refused to buy them at the excessive prices.

MASLOC has asked the AG’s department to peruse the contracts after they were notified of the inflated prices by the commercial drivers who felt that they were being taken advantage of.

Speaking on Eyewitness News, Maame Afia Akoto stated that, the AG was reviewing the contract with  MAC Ghana Limited, while negotiations were ongoing with the company over a possible reduction of the prices.

She also denied suggestions that the new management of MASLOC had refused to give out the vehicles procured under the Mahama administration for political reasons.

“We aren’t going to abandon vehicles just because they were purchased by the old administration. We would want to give the best to the people and for that reason, we’ve asked the AG to go through the documents and asked the company to come down on the price and we’re hoping we get somewhere. It’s been going back and forth from February till now, and the company has dropped some of the prices but it doesn’t make any difference in terms of what the GPRTU executives are looking for,” she said

“The GPRTU executives initially had a fair idea of how much they could [afford] and the types of cars they wanted. What we came to meet was a totally different price compared to what the executives of the GPRTU were informed about. Currently, the prices in their showrooms, you can get the saloon cars for $9, 000, it runs through. On the agreement, what we have is about $16, 000. It had to take the GPRTU executives to draw our attention to the prices that the [cars] are going for in their showrooms and we sent people to go and check” she explained.

‘No modifications or enhancements’

There have been suggestions that the increased prices might be as a result of modifications to the cars to ensure they are fit for the purpose.

However, according to Afia Akoto, the cars were not enhanced in any way which could have ballooned the cost by almost 40%.

“These cars are not for personal use. These are commercial cars. What’s in their showrooms currently, is exactly what we have in our custody. It’s not that they are different from what they have in their showrooms. These are not personal cars that you can say some enhancements were done to the taste of the user,” she said.

“If you are to buy things to help the middle and lower class to get something to do and you end up doubling and tripling the prices, you ask yourself are you out there to help them or kill them?” she asked.

Why would being sweaty and disheveled not be attractive? 12 surprising things guys most find sexy about women.

1. Casual stretching. Whether it’s right before you get out of bed or when you’re trying to get rid of a charley horse during CrossFit, stretching is any guy’s kryptonite. There’s something very flattering about a woman loosening up her muscles.

2. Sweat. You might think sweat is gross, but women glistening with sweat is immensely appealing. Even if you’re dripping and disheveled, all we see is glistening.

3. Jiggling. As unflattering as all your jiggly bits might feel to you, men really appreciate a body in motion. Own it.

4. Women getting mad. There is zero scientific explanation as to why men love an angry woman. It’s not something that can be understood. There’s something primal about a fighting woman that sends neurons fighting in dormant parts of our brain, maybe? Who knows, let’s move on.

5. Messy, unkempt hair. There might be a lot of effort that goes into your hairstyle, but there’s something innately sexy about looking like you DGAF.

6. Shooting guns. This isn’t about pacifism or gun rights. Men love things that are destructive and loud. They love women. This is a match made in heaven.

7. Flannel. A flannel shirt paired with a tank top will make any man lose his mind. But too much flannel is a problem. If you dress in all flannel, the magic is gone.

8. Baseball caps. Bonus points if the woman under it is a sports fan. This is a scientifically adorable look on any woman.

9. Basically, dressing like a man. What is going on here? I’m not sure what this means, I just know I wasn’t not the only one feeling it when Keira Knightley dressed like a boy pirate in Pirates of the Caribbean.

10. Seductive eating. Bananas aren’t sexy. Men eating bananas aren’t sexy. Women eating bananas? Suddenly sexy.

11. Instruments. It doesn’t matter what instrument a woman plays, but it makes them 10 times hotter. Whether you’re rocking a rhythm on a washboard or plucking out a song on a banjo, your hotness level just skyrocketed.

12. Stripper poles. Why do men flock to stripper poles? What is it about a woman giving herself the spins that’s attractive? These aren’t hypothetical questions; I’m legitimately asking.

While there may not be a clinical definition of what constitutes a cheater, the fact is that cheaters exist and they cause far more damage than it’s usually worth. Whether you consider cheating as sex or simply a kiss, no matter what the parameters of your relationship, a betrayal is a betrayal.

Here are a few things that you may have never known about cheaters, but probably should because, as you know, there are many of them out there. You might as well educate yourself on this breed of people.

#1. Cheaters are more likely to be rock ‘n’ roll fans
Because music and sex really do go hand-in-hand, researchers have found that when it comes to cheaters, 41 percent of them prefer rock music to all other genres. Falling in line after that, respectively, is pop music (16 percent), country music (11 percent), classical music (7 percent) and rap/hip-hop came in last place with only 2 percent of cheaters favoring that stuff. Takeaway? Kanye and Kim really have a chance!

#2. When women cheat, It’s a dangerous business
For some reason, a long time ago, a rumor was started that when it came to infidelity, men held the honor of being the most likely to stray, but it’s a lie! Not only do women cheat, but studies have found the difference between the two sexes is that usually when women stray, it’s to fulfill an emotional need as opposed to a physical one. Emotional involvement is pretty much just one or two steps away from a completely kaput relationship that can’t be saved. Purely physical entanglements might still have a chance of getting a relationship back on track.

#3. Cheaters are actually happy in their relationship
Cheating doesn’t necessarily mean that the cheater thinks their relationship is the absolute pits. That’s not to suggest that every cheater feels this way, but the majority of those who commit adultery are happy in their lives and relationships, and aren’t even looking for a breakup. According to a Rutgers University study, 56 percent of men who had affairs were happy with their partners, while 34 percent of women who cheated were also really content in their relationship. They just do it, because, well, they can.

#4. Cheaters Get ‘Friskier’ When They’re Cheating

According to intimacy expert Mary Jo Rapini once that sex drive is awoken in the cheating party, sometimes after years of hibernation, things can go from 0 to 20 with their spouse fast. It might seem like things have turned around with all that extra attention, but in reality, there’s a little somethin’ somethin’ going on elsewhere.

#5. Women Are More Likely to Cheat When They’re Ovulating
Oh, dear. It sounds like something out of a “How To Be A Good Wife” handbook from 1957, but it’s true. As UCLA researcher Dr. Martie Haselton explains, “We found that women were most attracted to men other than their primary partner when they were in the high fertility phase of the menstrual cycle. That’s the day of ovulation and several days beforehand.” Yikes! Not only that, but women feel sexier when their body is in tip-top mode to make a baby, so combine that with their desire for men other than their partner and we have a double yikes situation.

#6. Men Will Cheat to ‘Fix’ Their Marriage
It may sound like the most ridiculous thing in the world, but according to marriage and family therapist Susan Mandel, PhD, men who love their spouses think that by going outside their marriage, they can save it. Perhaps it’s a difficult concept to swallow, but in their brains, they think they can have it all, and therefore it will lead to less of a longing or something else.

#7. Cheaters Usually Cheat With Someone They Already Know
It may be comforting to think that if your partner is going to cheat, it will be with a one-night stand, but cheaters tend to stick closer to home. In fact, the most common place for an affair to blossom is at work. Research has found that 85 percent of cheating starts amongst coworkers, with friends and neighbors not being too far behind.

#8. Cheaters Want to Get Caught
Think about the burden it must be to carry around such a weight day in and day out! The guilt! The secrecy! The fear of, “OMG! Am I about to be found out?” Welp, cheaters, some of you actually want to be found out after all. According to Scott Haltzman, MD, a clinical professor at Brown University and author of “The Secrets of Happy Married Men, “people may actually set it up so the spouse or partner find out. Whether it’s lipstick on the collar or emails left open on the family computer, we leave our fingerprints everywhere. Oftentimes, it’s a cry to say ‘I need to get help.’ Some people make it obvious because they want to stop but don’t know how.” Well then. I guess we can’t all live with being conniving and deceitful forever, now can we? Go us!

If you’re going to get close to someone, physically or emotionally, at some point their personal hygiene will come into play. Does he brush his teeth on a regular basis? Does he shower as often as human beings should? Or is he like Zac Efron, who would rather not shower after a very sweaty game of basketball? Gross.

While sweating (because it’s natural) isn’t exactly a no-no, not showering after this aforementioned sweat can be the kiss of death in a relationship. Guys, just think about how you smell everywhere after such an activity. Shower, dudes, shower!

We asked women how they feel about men’s hygiene, what they’d put up with, what would make them run, and what, surprisingly, they find attractive.

#1. Sweaty can be hot.

Amanda, 25, was too embarrassed to admit it on Facebook, but she loves sweaty guys: “I LOVE sweaty dudes. Like not even lightly, just-worked-out fragrant, I like when it smells as if it’s been stewing and very strong. I don’t know why, I’m gross, I guess.”

“I know I REALLY like them if the sweat doesn’t bother me,” says Becky, 29. “Otherwise … not really a turn on.”

“Sweating just for the sake of sweating, no. Sweating in the sweltering heat or because we’re having sex, hot,” says Jen, 33.

#2. Wash up, or you’re not getting’ any.

“They MUST be washed. And not wear bad cologne. Or too much cologne. Really I just need to be able to breathe,” says Rachael, 25.

“I can’t even with dirty guys. I think it’s because I’m the type who showers two to three times a day in the summer. Even with guys I’ve loved, I’ve found their sweat or body odor repulsive. Maybe I haven’t found the right guy,” says Tanya, 30.

“If he hasn’t showered in a couple days and he’s not a smelly person, then it’s fine. But the one major MUST for me is awesome dental hygiene. If he doesn’t floss and brush regularly, I’m gone,” says Lizzie, 34.

#3. Cologne vs. au natural.

As we saw above, Rachael doesn’t like to be smothered with cologne, but what about other women? The men’s cologne industry seems to be thriving, after all.

“My husband is pretty good about his hygiene from an actual HYGIENE standpoint. I DO wish he were a cologne dude. I DO wish that he spent about 2 more minutes on his hair because that extra 2 minutes would take him from hot to MEGA hot, but I also know that he’s not a fashion dude. So … there’s a wishful thinking aspect, but he’s presentable and not smelly so I can’t complain,” says Colleen, 30.

“I’d been smelling Bleu de Chanel for months and loved it. So I bought some for my boyfriend, and no thanks. It smells far better in my magazine than it does on my man. I guess I love HIS smell way more,” says Lynne, 36.

“Aftershave is nice but cologne can be overpowering,” says Becky, 29.

#4. And for the unwashed hair debate?

Although she wasn’t crazy about cologne, Lynne does like stinky locks:

“I love unwashed hair on guys! I know this has everything to do with my childhood crush on Kurt Cobain. The smell really gets me excited,” she says.

“Love it! Besides, I rarely wash mine, so why should I expect he washes his all the time?” asks Leigh, 31.

It happens to the best of us. It’s late at night and you’re having sex with your spouse — as quietly as you possibly can. But just as things are getting exciting you hear a creak and a “Mommy … ?”EEEK!

Your child walked in on you having sex! There you both are, naked, and in a position that’s very hard to explain. Plenty of experts have written about how to handle your child when that happens.

But you know what? The kid will be okay. What I’m more concerned about is how you’re supposed to resume the sex after you’ve put the little one back to bed.

Here are 6 tips for getting back into your sexual groove after your child has walked in on you.

1. Don’t give in to a downward spiral of exasperation. “Don’t let frustration get the best of you,” Myers says. You may want to start ranting, “Why can’t we EVER have a moment alone?!?” But nip that in the bud. Avoid using those big words like “never” and “ever.”

2. Divide and conquer so you can keep your mind in a sexy state. While one of you (preferably your husband) sends your child back to bed, you do whatever you need to do to stay in the mood. Keep touching yourself, pick up some porn, whatever it takes to “keep your head in the game,” as Myers puts it.

3. Don’t talk about what just happened. “Kiddie talk is usually libido-crushing,” Myers says. You can talk about why your child woke up, how you got her back to sleep, whether or not she needs therapy now (just kidding!) in the morning. But not now.

4. Have a stay-sexy mantra. Find a phrase that keeps you in the mood, like “I’m feeling so hot now” or “nothing can stop me!” Nothing can stop you, sexy mama! I’m serious, mantras help.

5. Return to the same “kind” of sex you were having. If you were having soft, romantic type sex, start by coming face to face and just breathing together, then move on to kissing. If you were having hot lava sex, find something to spark that energy: A toy, props, anything you know will bring back that heightened sense of arousal.

6. Most importantly, be present. Myers emphasizes that the most important thing is that you find a way to become present again. Set aside your feelings of embarrassment or worry for the moment and just try to reignite that connection. Remind yourself, “no matter what happens, our time together is a priority.” Put the focus back on your relationship.

It’s time to get to know the most pleasurable part of your body once and for all.

You know that saying, “I don’t know art, but I know what I like”? Well, that pretty much sums up the clitoris for me. I don’t fully comprehend it, and honestly, I don’t try to dive too deep into its complexities.

I just appreciate it, and as such, want it displayed prominently, highly revered, and ideally touched up regularly with some powerful brush strokes (preferably clockwise).

We are schooling you on the things you probably — no, definitely — never knew about the mythical clitoris (aka the only part of the body designed solely to get you off).

Because like my art history teacher and pretty much every after-school special used to preach, understanding is the key to fully attaining your masterpiece.

And remember, masterpiece means orgasm here. So, yeah, listen up.

1. The word “clitoris” is derived from the Greek word for “key”.

As in key to your heart, or probably more accurate, the key to the city as it can certainly open lots of doors.

2. Thought you knew where your clitoris was?

Nope, it’s not just that little button (the glans, if we’re being scientific). It’s actually within the pelvis — extending deep within you. Don’t believe me?

3. Like a fine wine, your clitoris gets better with age.

It’s reported that the clitoris starts growing upon puberty, and is almost quadruple in size by the time you reach early 30s; by menopause, seven times its size. That whole “why old people allegedly get it on a lot” theory is suddenly becoming crystal clear.

4. There are 8,000 nerve endings in the clitoris.

8,000! Sorta makes you wonder about the guys who can’t get you off, am I right?

5. It’s got some penis personality.

Although they couldn’t physically look any more different, there are a few striking similarities in their make-up including erectile tissue, foreskin and even a shaft. Oh, and the clitoris also grows when aroused, it just doesn’t prop through our pants when the wind hits it right (or, not that you can see anyway.) Religious or not, that deserves an Amen.

6. It’s stimulated with exercise.

Foreplay is important for a satisfying orgasm and you might be surprised to hear that the best foreplay is … a walk. Twenty minutes of moderate exercise increases a woman’s genital engorgement by 168 percent — and the effect persists for hours. So take your sweetie for a walk around the park and don’t be surprised if you both feel like a romp in bed afterward. The more you exercise, the healthier your clitoris will be.

7.Your brain and your clitoris.

But did you know that a woman’s orgasms are triggered by nerves that originate in at least six different tissues? Yes, nerve impulses from the clitoris build in your brain to achieve orgasm. Different women have different active nerve pathways, and these pathways change during pregnancy, lactation and after menopause.

The thinking part of the brain (the neocortex) hinders orgasm, which centers in the feeling-centered hypothalamus. As we approach orgasm, the clitoris integrates information from these inputs, plus reports from the cerebral cortex, the hypothalamus, and the peripheral nervous system. Whew! Best not to think about it.
