Management of Citi FM and Citi TV has officially handed over a resettlement centre to displaced victims at Tokpo in the Shai Osudoku Municipality.

The centre is designed to accommodate approximately 280 people who were displaced due to the Akosombo dam spillage.

It would also free up classrooms which had been used by these persons for students to commence their lessons.

The resettlement centre is one of the five projects being undertaken by Citi TV and Citi FM with massive support from listeners and corporate Ghana, to provide relief to Akosombo flood victims.

During a brief commissioning ceremony on Wednesday, Samuel Attah-Mensah, the Managing Director of Citi TV and Citi FM, said he was surprised to see that parts of Accra had been significantly affected by the Akosombo dam spillage as the general focus, as projected by most people, was on the devastations caused in the Volta Region.

The Citi TV/Citi FM MD explained that the project, specifically the resettlement centre, became a reality because a young man from the area had alerted him to their need for shelter after losing their community.

“When the call came for us to visit here, the only reference on the list of media people, I must say, was Mepe. Everybody thought everything was happening in Mepe [in the Volta Region] until Umaru Sanda Amadu helped us locate this place. It was a bit of a contradiction. The reason is that nobody thought that Greater Accra was part of the mess. Everything was about Volta.”

“Now, when we came here, the idea was to donate food and relief items just to make lives better. So, on our first visit, we got here around 5 pm and began to share food and other relief materials.”

Attah-Mensah said, during the donation exercise, one gentleman approached him and complained about the current sleeping place for the people.

“So for him, if we can do anything for them, we should build shelters for them so that it can be a stop-gap measure until, eventually, they all can go back to their various places. So that recommendation is the reason we are all here today,” he stated.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Shai-Osudoku, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, expressed gratitude to Citi TV and Citi FM for the initiative. She pledged that they would take good care of the facility.

“We are most grateful, and we are going to take good care of the facility. We are so grateful,” she indicated.

Citi FM and Citi TV made history on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 with the official Christmas party, Decemba to Rememba (#D2R2019) as it gave patrons an unforgettable experience through entertainment.

This is the first time it was held at a bigger venue, Fantasy Dome at Trade Fair in Accra, and also aired on DSTV.

The 2019 Decemba 2 Rememba concert paraded the top Ghanaian artistes such as Kofi Kinaata, Fameye, Kuami Eugene, KiDi, Kelvynboy, Okyeame Kwame, Praye, Adina, Tulenkey, Dope Nation, Krymi and Camidoh.

The show started with Voice Factory winners, Cleck Boyson, AJ Sam and Araba singing their renditions of several Christmas carols.

In September Genevieve Antwi-Nuamah, known in showbiz as Araba, was adjudged winner of the Season 4 of Citi TV’s Voice Factory.

She beat off competition from Ayjay Sam, Cleck Boyson and Idara (who placed second, third and fourth positions respectively) to win the ultimate prize of GH¢10, 000.

Their performance was followed by Highly Spiritual artiste Krymi who also did songs from his repertoire including the recent ‘Dwe’ which features his lable mate, Mr Drew and Sarkodie.

Camidoh followed with his performance keeping the auditorium alive with his energy.

Adina, the only female musician on the bill of Citi FM’s Decemba 2 Rememba concert was in her element during her performance at the show this year.

The ‘Sika’ hit maker performed songs like ‘Fakye’, ‘Too Late’, ‘Makoma’, ‘Killing Me Softly’, among others.

The ectastic audience could not help but dance to her bangers.

One artiste that has endeared himself to music lovers with his craft within a short period is Tulenkey.

He has been able to win the hearts of music fans with songs they can easily relate. It is therefore not surprising that he could wow the audience at he concert last night.

Comedian OB Amponsah, mounted the stage to entertain the audience with his rib-cracking jokes. His entry with Emelia Brobbey’s infamous song ‘Fa Me Ko’ set the tone for his presentation.

He was able to win the hearts of the patrons as he dropped one funny joke after the other.

A few months ago, OB Amponsah earned a lot of spurs for himself after sending patrons of Lords of the Ribs comedy show in Nigeria into a frenzy.

This was followed by another awesome perform that had President Nana Akufo-Addo in stitches at the 2019 Club 100 Awards.

The optometrist has also performed at programmes such as Night of Laughs and Music, Easter Comedy Show and Voices in My Head, among others.

There were also amazing performances from Fameye, Kelvynboy, KiDi and Dope Nation.

Perhaps the most surprising moment on the show was the appearance by comic actor Mmebusem who came on to do a skit on the essence of giving and sharing especially during this festive period.

Kuami Eugene proved on the night that he is really a rock-star! He rocked! He kept patrons on their feet throughout his performance. One could feel the totality of his craft as he dazzled on stage with his awesome dance moves, vocal ability and agility.

Typical of his quest for perfection, Okyeame Kwame put up an epic performance at the 2019 Decemba 2 Rememba Concert.

Clad in his locally designed outfit, he performed a repertoire of his songs, with the support of the Afro Harmony band.

Okyeame did songs like Woso, Faithful, M’asan Aba, Kokooko and One Gallon.

He also invited on stage the former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice ‘Obour’ Osei Kuffour to perform ‘Killing the Game’ with him.

From Takoradi, came the Fante Rap God, Kofi Kinaata. Having had hit songs over the years and particularly with his ‘Things Fall Apart’ this year, it was not surprising he was given an effusive reception from the audience.

He also proved his mettle, entertaining the revelers to their relish. Kofi was on stage with the usual masquerders that characterise typical Christmas in Takoradi.

Praye were the last to perform. Even without the Choirmaster (who was absent) the other two were able to give their fans their best.

As part of their act, they even brought on stage veteran hiplife artiste T-Blaze and internet model Pamela Odame.

The biggest moments on the night were the DJ sessions with DJ Mingle and DJ Jayjay.

These two Citi FM DJs kept the groove alive with their eclectic selection of songs.

This year’s concert was hosted by AJ Sarpong, host of Brunch in the Citi on Citi FM (also host of Hall of Fame on Citi TV) and Ato Kwamina, co-host of Traffic Avenue on Citi FM (also co-host of 30 Minutes on Citi TV).

#D2R2019 was put together by Citi FM with support from Citi TV and The Year of Return.

It was sponsored by Coca Cola, taste the feeling, and had Edern Security as the official security partner.

Ghanaian highlife duo, Wutah, has dispelled rumours that the group is on the verge of collapse again, just about a year of its reunion.

In a Facebook post that has a picture of the duo, actor Kobi Rana and a Vodafone logo, Wutah Afriyie, one half of the group hinted that they are preparing to come out with a big project.

“Let them beef. After all, we are vegetarians. Something huge is coming!” he posted.

This comes few weeks after it had been speculated in the media circles that all was not well with the group and that a break up was imminent.

The speculations were mainly premised on Wutah Kobby sharing his solo songs on social media.

But responding to the issue, Kobby said those were songs he had done before their reunion and found nothing wrong sharing them.

He assured that the group was intact and ready to make greater strides.

Wutah came into the limelight in 2004 when it contested for the Nescafe Africa Revelation music competition in Accra and came second to Praye. The name Wutah is a Hausa word which means fire.

Their debut album, ‘Anamontuo’ which has songs like ‘Adonko’, ‘Goosie Gander’ and ‘Big Dreams’ earned them eleven nominations including The Most Popular Song of the Year, Album Of the Year and Artiste of the Year in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

In 2009, they separated and started recording their solo projects. Afriyie has released song like ‘I Do,’ ‘Love of My Life,’ ‘Tontonti,’ ‘Everlasting Love’ and ‘Here to Stay.’ Kobby also has songs like ‘Chiochio,’ ‘Pii Por Pii,’ ‘Warning,’ and ‘Father for All.’

They came back in 2017 and have since registered a huge presence in the music industry with ‘Bronya.’But Before ‘Bronya,’ they had released ‘AK47.’

Wutah, signed on to NKZ Music, has earned several nominations in this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards slated for 14th April, 2018 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Actor and former bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger underwent heart surgery to replace a valve that was originally replaced 20 years ago, waking up with the words “I’m back” in a twist on his catchphrase, a spokesman said on Friday.

The original replacement pulmonic valve, which Schwarzenegger received in 1997, outlasted its life expectancy, so the former California governor chose to have valve replacement by catheter, spokesman Daniel Ketchell said in a statement on Twitter.

He was recovering and in stable condition at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, the statement said.

The 70-year-old Schwarzenegger “is awake and his first words were actually ‘I’m back,’” Ketchell said.

Schwarzenegger’s character famously says “I’ll be back” in his breakthrough role in the 1984 movie “The Terminator.”

Born in Austria, Schwarzenegger won the Mr. Universe bodybuilding contest five times and Mr. Olympia seven times before turning to acting, starring in action movies such as “Conan the Barbarian” and “Commando.”

He then went into politics, and was elected governor of California as a Republican in 2003 and 2006.

The mother of all gospel concerts in Ghana, Harvest Praise was held the Fantasy Dome at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra yesterday.

Dubbed the Bigger, Better and Greater edition of the concert, Harvest Praise paraded the hottest gospel music stars on stage to minister through music and worship.

The Harvest International Ministries Campus Choir was in their element as they blessed patrons with soul inspiring songs.

From Nigeria came, the worship dynamite, Victoria Orenze, who put up an electrifying ministration to the relish of patrons.

The vintage Yaw Sarpong and the Asomafo were not left out in the experience. They performed strings of powerful songs from their rich repertoire. Yaw Sarpong has proved that, age has everything to do with quality wine.

American Gospel music sensation, Anthony Brown and the Group Therapy band ignited the auditorium of the Fantasy Dome. Just as he promised earlier on the Citi Breakfast Show, his presence was hugely felt at the concert.

There was also awesome ministration from the evergreen Harvest Gospel Choir, Kofi Dua Anto KODA, Ramzy Amui, among other amazing gospel acts.

Edwin Dadson who stamped HP 2018 edition with his Bigger Better and Greater album also did a rendition of the hit song.

Harvest Praise at 20 was powered by the Harvest International Ministries in Partnership with Unibank and Citi FM.

The 2018 Kwahu Easter Paragliding Festival officially opened on Easter Friday for patrons across the world to enjoy another year of exciting flying experience.

Patrons of this year’s paragliding festival can expect to have a hitch-free experience as organizers have moved to improve on previous experiences.

For instance, all four pilots can now take off at the same time, instead of the usual one-at-a-time take off sessions.

Expansion works have been carried out at the site, more washrooms and pavilions have been constructed, and enough chairs provided for patrons’ comfort.

Ed Stein, a veteran pilot who is the team leader and has been flying patrons since the festival was launched 13 years ago, in an interview with Citi News described the renovated site as the best in the world.

“I am very impressed with the speed of renovation exercise carried out here by the tourism ministry, last year [2017], when I came to fly people, the site was not like this, only a pilot could take off at a time, but with the expansion works here 4 other pilots can all take off at a go, and I must say once again I am really impressed”.

“I can confidently say with my experience at different countries and paragliding sites in the world that the Kwahu site here in Ghana is the best and am looking forward to another exciting experience”.

As patrons troop in from all corners of the country, the Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, announced that over 500 hundred personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the military have been deployed to ensure security at Kwahu.

“A combined team of 500 men from both the police and military are on the ground to provide maximum security, we have a strong group from the CTU, FPU and crowd control unit firmly positioned at every vantage points and several plain cloth men and CID are also patrolling 24 hours to ensure visibility here”.

“We are aware certain criminals and individuals would want to take advantage of the occasion to rob people, but we want to assure patrons here we are in control and we will ensure their safety at all times”.

Frederick Rudolph – Adjei, the Eastern Regional Manager of the Ghana Tourism Authority, also indicated that the Ghana Airforce is on standby to airlift patrons in case of an emergency.

“Adequate measures and planning have been instituted to ensure that patrons are served with the best experience this year, we have been improving every year, and we will not stop at maintaining and becoming the best. The Airforce base in Accra is currently on standby to airlift patrons in an emergency, they have been constantly contacting their men stationed here for updates, and we want to assure patrons to feel at home, relax and enjoy the experience”.

The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku, who was optimistic about the success of the event asked the media to help sell out the site to the rest of the world.

“You are witnesses to the nice edifice we have constructed here, we do not want to enjoy paragliding only during Easter festival so we are putting in a lot of efforts for the training of our Ghanaian pilots. Two of them for the first time flew solo today. The rest of it is on the media to tell all the stories here to the world for all paragliding fans in the world to also come to Ghana to experience this amazing site and feeling in Kwahu”.

She added that, “we have the disease of not managing or maintaining things well, so I am calling on us all to be vigilant and observant to ensure we all keep the site well and maintain it well for it is a collective effort”.

Akesse Brempong’s latest singles, ‘Spontaneous Worship’ have generated excitement among gospel music lovers.

The release revealed a rather interesting deviation from people’s expectation of the regular contemporary style of worship songs or his signature bongo worship style enjoyed on his previous album release, ‘West Hills Live.’

It rather showcased an indigenous blend of Pentecostal worship songs with a touch of modernized vocal and rhythmic harmonies that presents the signature vintage Pentecostal sound in a more refined 21st century appeal making it ideal for today’s worshiper to access the same ancient anointing birthed out from these songs.

The multiple award winning artiste, disclosed in an interview that in contrast to the perceptions of his fans as a charismatic, he was born and bred in the Church of Pentecost right through his Sunday school days at Ahensan in the Ashanti region, to his talent discovery days in Kumasi high school, then to the frontline ministrations at Kumasi P.I.W.C and eventually as the music director of several  choirs both on and off  KNUST campus during his university days before settling with Kaneshie P.I.W.C where he currently worships after relocating to Accra.

It is quite evident from the above information that his versatility and command over the contemporary and gospel reggae music genre only comes second to his native Pentecostal side we are seeing now.

It all sums up to mean that Akesse Brempong can’t be boxed up and restricted to a particular genre and his fans should expect more diverse and soul stirring songs off his latest album soon to be released.

For now, the 2-part single, ‘Spontaneous Worship 1’ and ‘Spontaneous Worship 2’ is available for download on iTunes, Aftown, YouTube, Google play and Cdbaby.

The singles are taken off his upcoming album, ‘Kumasi City Live.’

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has teamed up with South African heavyweight rapper, Cassper Nyovest on a new song.

Both Cassper Nyovest and Stonebwoy made this announcement via posts on the social media handles.

“Made a smash hit last night,” Stonebwoy wrote on Facebook on Wednesday afternoon.

This comes few days after Cassper had publicly chosen Stonebwoy as his favourite dance hall artiste in Africa.

Asked on Starr FM whether he had heard of Ghanaian dance hall kingpin Shatta Wale, Nyovest answered: “he [Shatta Wale] is trouble. “I have read a lot about him…but I don’t know his music yet but everybody says it is lit,” he stated.

The South African artiste whose comment was not taken likely by Shatta Wale’s fans is in Ghana to explore the music industry and do collaborations with some Ghanaian musicians.

This is the second time Cassper and Stonebwoy are doing a joint project. The first, ‘Fever’ was released in 2015.

Nyovest is winner of multiple international awards and author of platinum albums.

His hard work and controversial nature has earned him global acclaim especially when he filled up big stadiums across South Africa with monumental concerts.

Ghanaian Dancehall artiste, Livingstone Este Satekla, aka, Stonebwoy has expressed his willingness to join the campaign against motor accidents.

Speaking to Citi TV at the funeral of the late Ebony Reigns on Saturday, he said, as a victim of a car crash himself, he would admonish the citizenry to collectively help reduce the menace to the barest minimum.

“Unfortunately, she [Ebony] died in an accident. The same cause that kills almost thousands of people every year and a number of people every day. The same cause that leaves a number of people injured and deformed every time. I am an example of that; I’m an accident victim and I’m facing it till now,” he said.

When asked if he had planned on embarking on any campaign to help curb this problem, he said he was ready to use any means available to fight road accidents.

“Why not? Any form that we can advocate and educate the people about road safety, I am ready – and even as I speak now, it is gonna go far and you know we are all involved to make sure that we are all safe on our roads,” he added.

Stonebwoy was once involved in a car accident which claimed the life of his twin sibling. The accident rendered him disabled for a long period until he finally went through a successful surgery.

A few weeks ago, he donated an amount of GHc 5,000 and other items to patients at the accident ward of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Already, rapper Sarkodie has composed a song titled ‘Wakeup Call’ to raise awareness on road accidents on Ghanaian roads.

Other people in arts and showbiz have also added their voices to the call since Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng aka Ebony died in a gory motor accident on the Kumasi-Sunyani road in February.
