Thirteen girls from GEIC joined with university students to listen to a talk by Daphne Lariba Nabila, a prominent lawyer and Executive Director of the Legal Resources Centre (LRC), a human rights and development NGO.

Daphne spoke about the tenants of a successful life, covering everything from the importance of having a vision to the value of confidence and persistence.

Elizabeth also shared her story with the audience, discussing the serious accident that left her physically disabled and suffering from a brain injury.

She used her experience to show the audience that they, too, could rise above their circumstances regardless of how insurmountable they appear and achieve great success in their field.

Today, Elizabeth focuses on educating girls, especially those with special needs who are often overlooked by the system.

Kokui Selormey also attended the workshop and shared her story of finding her passion in life and conquering her fears and self-doubt to achieve success as a popular television host and a performer of classical music.

Kokui now uses her talents to help raise funds for charitable causes and is an advisor to a non-governmental organization that supports the survival of children in Ghana.

The workshop included a Q&A forum where students were encouraged to share their own experiences and encourage each other as well as interact with the speakers.

To close the workshop, the students were encouraged to vote for the favorite Vlisco Women’s Month nominee.
