The Tain District Assembly in the Brong Ahafo Region has been closed down by the youth in the Nsawkaw traditional area forcing the District Chief Executive to flee.

The assembly was closed by the youth to push their demands for the dismissal of the DCE, Jones Tawiah.

According to the youth calling itself ‘concern youth of Nsawkaw’ a statement made by the DCE generated angered the people.

They claim DCE is dividing the people in the Tain District.

Mr Jones Tawiah is said to have stated that Nsawkaw, which is the District Capital of the Tain district, did not deserve to be the district capital because of the size of other towns such as Seikwah, Badu and Debebi.

He reportedly said that if it had not been the location of the Nsawkaw town which lies on the main Bui Sampa road it would not have been chosen as the district capital.

This has infuriated the chiefs and people especially the youth who have sworn to make sure that he does not continue to be DCE in a town he does not disrespect.

The youth who on Friday prevented  Jones Tawiah from travelling to Seikwah to celebrate the 58th Independence Anniversary explained they did that because the DCE’s decision to celebrate the anniversary in Seikwah was to undermine the people of Nsawkaw.

Meanwhile the youth are still on the street of Nsawkaw chanting for his immediate removal after locking his office.
