Over a dozen people in Kpone in the Greater Accra Region have reportedly sustained gunshot injuries after clashing with the Police who were preventing them from destroying property in the area.

The Police reportedly attempted to disperse the angry crowd who had gathered at the forecourt of the Kpone Traditional Council, demanding the removal of the Council Registrar, Harry Attipoe who they accuse of selling their lands indiscriminately.

The injured persons are currently being treated at the Kpone Health Centre.

Citi News’ Tema correspondent, Elvis Washington reported despite the injuries, the youth are still demonstrating.

Aside demanding the removal of the Traditional Council registrar, Harry Attipoe, the youth also wants the chief fisherman in the area to be removed from the Traditional Council.

They are also demanding accountability from the Asogli Power Plant Authority since according to them, the residents have so far not benefited from the project.

The demonstrators who are clad in red and black are appealing to the President to intervene in the matter.
