Why should a nation consider going green and consider making significant changes to the climate.
According to the World Banks report on Economics of Adaption to Climate Change and Ghana’s National Climate Change Policy Framework, significant monopoly here and now impact to the climate will have an effect on Ghana’s economy.
Crop production is predicted to decline by 7% by 2050 due to higher temperatures and sea levels rise over a meter this century causing erosion of 1,1250 square kilometers.
The Ghana Climate Innovation Center, an initiative by the world bank at Ashesi University college brought together key stakeholders and entrepreneurs and startups for a 2 day bootcamp from 27th to 28th of February to help identify and launch local innovation and ventures to develop profitable yet relevant solutions to climate change. The bootcamp took place at Ashesi’s new engineering block at Berekuso in the Eastern Region.
The bootcamp had twenty Ghanaian startup participants grouped into six categories. The categories were Energy and Improved Cookstoves, Solar, Agriculture, Waste Management and Biogas and Others.
Thee bootcamp was supported by the Danish International Development Cooperation Agency (DANIDA), the Government of The Netherlands, the World Bank Group and InfoDev.
