How I turned my dream into reality

I turned my dream into reality by working hard, leaning on the right people for support, learning from my mistakes, persevering during tough times and maintaining my faith.

How ultimate dream for women in my country is

My ultimate dream for women in this country is to continue to excel in our chosen careers, to support other women in doing the same and to love ourselves wholeheartedly just as we are. It is also my wish that as we pursue our career goals, we also maintain the balance that fosters a stable home environment. Our roles as career women are quite complex but the success of a family also depends on our willingness to sacrifice at the appropriate times and support our families accordingly.

Elizabeth is the founder and executive director of the Girls Education Initiative of Ghana, a foundation that provides academic and financial support for girls including applicants with special needs. Her personal experience of acquiring a physical disability after a traumatic brain injury combined with academic research into this area, compelled her to start the foundation and ensure that at least 10% of students admitted had a special need.

Why is she nominated?

We were touched by Elizabeth’s story. The fact that despite all that had happened in her life she has proven that disability is not inability. She has strong values and a big dream of ensuring all girls and women have equal footing in Ghana and across the globe. Her story will inspire many women in Ghana

How I turned my dream into reality

Through a lot of hard work, discipline, dedication, and associating myself with like minded people who are supportive of my vision for myself personally and professionally.

How ultimate dream for women in my country is

I’d like to see women and girls be on equal footing as their male counterparts.

She is determined to use her business expertise in ways that will benefit the people of Ghana and to tackle a very important issue affecting Africa – sanitation. Her story is an inspiration to all especially the young people of Ghana.

How ultimate dream for women in my country is

My dream has always been to utilise my talents in business to improve living standards in Ghana. I have made this a reality. As every time I provide a toilet to someone’s home, I know that I’ve brought dignity and cleanliness to that family. I’ve only been able to achieve this by staying focused and working with a team of dedicated, passionate and like minded people.

My Ultimate dream for women in my country is:
