One of Ghana’s favourite rappers, Okyeame Kwame, has condemned Faisal Hakeem, aka Paedae, a member of a Hiplife music group, R2Bees, for using various social media platforms to launch several attacks on the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).
Paedae went on Twitter last week and attacked MUSIGA by describing its leadership as having lost focus.
He rather called for better remuneration, effective institution for revenue collection and a working structure to support and promote the Ghanaian music to reach its deserving heights.
This is not the first time MUSIGA has come under attack from stakeholders since Obour took over as the president of the union.
A number of stakeholders have also launched series of attacks on Obour and the leadership of the Union for not being transparent.
A section of the stakeholders who are unhappy about the way the industry is being managed said, “The industry has a lot of problems which need urgent attention.”
The stakeholders who see nothing wrong with the statements made by Paedae said the players in the industry need to put in place competent leaders who would be able to steer the affairs of the industry.
Reacting to Paedae’s attacks on Entertainment Unplugged Show on Kapital Radio in Kumasi, the Public Relations Officer of MUSIGA, Okyeame Kwame, stated that “it is quite unfortunate to see a musician go rant on social media when he could have simply registered the same complaints at the MUSIGA office.”
He added it was also unfair on the part of musicians to register their displeasure through social media instead of filing a complaint at the MUSIGA for the issue to be addressed.
