A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has declared his support for Kwabena Agyapong who is contesting the position of general secretary.
According to Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe, the NPP in its current state needs a strong and visionary person to run the day to day affairs of the party in other for them to succeed in the next elections.
The NPP is expected to hold its national congress in April at Tamale in the Northern region to elect new national executives.
Speaking to Citi News, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe indicated that Kwabena Agyapong is one of the few persons who will be able power for the party in 2016.
He noted that if the NPP is intending to capture political power in the 2016 general elections, “the Kwabena Agyepong will be the man for the party. I’m telling you and I know what I’m talking about.”
He recalled working with Mr. Agyapong saying, “he has gone through the mill, he has assisted Akufo-Addo in various ways, we were all in various committees with him, during elections, he has always been our representative in the EC’s [Electoral Commission].”
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe insisted that Mr. Agyapong if voted as the party’s general secretary “can handle the NPP and if he is voted in, then I think we have a future.”
