The Police have arrested two people in connection with the scam recruitment exercise that saw hundreds of young people turning up at some police recruitment depots.

Director of the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), COP Prosper Ablorh announced this at a press conference held on Monday.

Hundreds of people were at some five police training depots last Saturday for enlistments into the Ghana Police Service.

However, the purported enlistment turned out to be scam.

COP Ablorh addressing the conference said that “we can state that two persons were arrested in connection with this particular incident on Friday February 27, 20145; a day before the supposed recruits reported.”

He explained that Aisha Asumda who is complicit in the current scam case was one of five suspects arrested earlier for such activity and is currently facing trial adding that she has been granted bail.

COP Ablorh further assured that persons found culpable of the activity will not be spared.

“We also have a list of persons both police and civilians who have been involved in recruitment fraud in the past, the action taken against them and the status of their cases. We have never shielded any police officer who has been involved in such case. Some are even facing criminal prosecution in court,” he added.

Earlier, the Ministry of Interior told Citi News that they have begun investigations into the incident.

“We will continue with our investigations and all those may have taken part in one way or the other to help defraud members of the unsuspecting public and when they are found they will be arrested and dealt with like those before them who are already standing trial for committing similar offences,” he added.
