Togbe Afede endorses National Sanitation Day

The Paramount Chief of Asogli Traditional Area and the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs has called on colleague chiefs in the region to lead the campaign in the upcoming National Sanitation Day to be held in the region.

[contextly_sidebar id=”U5XLU3EoPwzJbFmmk854lHF46lhX67Vw”]According to Togbe Afede XIV, as custodians of the land chiefs must lead the campaign in keeping the environment clean.

He made the call when one of the Deputy Ministers for Local Government and Rural Development Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum paid a courtesy call on him at his residence in Ho ahead of the National Sanitation Day in the Volta region.

The traditional leader lamented over what he described as alarming the level of indiscipline among citizens.

He explained that the irresponsible handling of waste in the country is an affront to good health and sanitation among citizenry.

He commended the ministry for the initiative and pledged to support all activities of the ministry in the quest to clear the city of filth.

He therefore challenged his colleaques to revamp the communal spirit among their subordinates as well as galvanize them to participate wholly in the nation sanitation day project.

In a related development the Congress of Chiefs and Queen Mothers in the Ho West District Assembly have resolved to reschedule all funerals slated for Saturday to enable their subjects to participate successively in the sanitation day.

The congress made of six traditional councils in the Ho West District declared their support during a visit by a delegation led by the other Deputy Ministers of Local Government and Rural Development Nii Lante Vanderpuye met with the chiefs as part of their tour in the region.

The delegation which include the Mp for the area Hon Emmanuel Kwesi Bedzra and Deputy Volta Regional Minister Mr Francis Ganyaglo outwardly expressed their gratitude for the reception challenged chiefs to resume their roles as overseers of the land by ensuring citizens comply with the rules and regulations in the country.
