Sampoa Timothy Laari has been confirmed as the District Chief Executive for the Bunkprugu-Yunyoo district in the Northern Region.

Forty one out of 45 assembly members voted for him which the Electoral Commission pegged at 91.11 percent.

[contextly_sidebar id=”ziWVTXnsTshE1r0gk1mgox77jOaN9mNh”]Sampoa Timothy Laari commended the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and promised to develop the area to an appreciable level.

He further assured the assembly members of an open door administration and thereby invited useful deliberations to propel government’s vision for the district.

Considering the volatile nature of the area, he called for deeper peaceful co-existence.

He emphasized the need for residents there to end the perennial land and chieftaincy disputes which have plagued the area over the years.

Sampoa Timothy also pledged to liaise with traditional authorities in the area to smoothly implement government’s Better Ghana agenda.

Until his nomination and subsequent confirmation, Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji A.B A Fuseini was the Acting DCE.

The position became vacant following the dismissal of the former DCE, Philip Laari.

The Bunkprugu-Yunyoo district is considered as one of the security hotspots in the Northern Region.

Temaa, Gbankoni and Kambatiak are among the flashpoints in the district.

Konkombas and Bimobas have over the years fought in these areas over land and chieftaincy disputes.
