The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has dismissed reports  that Boko Haram has succeeded in contaminating chalks used in Ghana with the Ebola virus.

In a statement, Mr John Odame-Darkwah, Deputy Chief Executive, Food Safety Division, stated that it was also being circulated that two teachers had died as a result of the inoculation.

Mr Odame-Darkwah said the FDA had notified the security agencies to investigate the source of such misleading information.

He advised the public to desist from circulating such information,  capable of causing fear and panic.

“The public may visit the FDA website, www.fdaghana.gov.gh to verify the source of any circulation purported to be originating from the FDA,” he said.

He assured the public of FDA’s readiness to ensure the protection of health and safety at all times.
